Me too. It's always made me happy that she doesn't say negative things about the judges she had, and is very supportive of the show. She finds a way to get the important point across, though.
She is a beam of light.

I agree with both you NUG and lovinghaleyr. I believe that I've pointed out, on this site, that she's handled what Randy did with more aplomb and maturity than many of her "fans."
But this went above and beyond the call -- I'm just sayin' (and, yes, I know that "sayin'" is supposed to be forever banished).

Interesting question. "Deeper" certainly can go in a lot of directions. She might mean that individual songs are more complex, nuanced, richer, or more profound. She might mean she is going further into a genre and beyond songs with a catchy pop melodies and hooks. Hard to say. Your question would have been a good follow up in the interview.
And what does it mean for the new songs that she has performed already? Are some planned for the album or are they tunes that are good but don't quite fit the theme.
Haley is just giving us those little bits.

I got a special privilege today during my lunch with Patti. Playing thru my car's CD sound system I heard about a dozen of Haley's new studio-produced songs, many of which were written in Greece at the songwriting camp. I gotta tell you...there were some sure-fire hits in this mix. The worry-warts have nothing to worry about with Haley's future. I was even more impressed with these songs than most Listen Up songs. I can divulge the initials of 3 of my favorites:

I'll be thrilled when they get released to the public. They are really special!!
