Other than this, I am thinking that Lover Girl or Knock Me Out may make appearances on the the album since they were in the running back when she was still trying to narrow songs for the EP. I am also thinking that she may also include some of the other covers that she has been performing frequently at venues on the radio tour, like Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay and Can't Find My Way Home.
Could she maybe end up including Show Me Your Moves after all since it will be getting a little DWTS promotion?

I somehow doubt #Better will have a cover on it other than CHFIL (unless she adds a duet w/ Casey) I still believe a primary way Ole/Haley will capitalize on the album is via placement of Haley's songs, not having to rely heaily on iTunes sales or radio play. It would make more sense to put originals on the Album to market than to put covers other than CHFIL on it for which the royalties will go elsewhere

She is currently charting with a cover, and making some money from it. She is also using her publicity from that song to publicize her album. And she got the contract for that gum commercial it seems, by the visibility that her covers with PMJ brought. She does covers really well, and with a tons of songs to choose from she can knock some of those covers out of the park. I'd love it if she always put a couple covers on her albums.

I think covers would make good additions to the "bonus tracks" section of an album. I know a lot of other artists do it that way, as well.

I don't think Haley wants to be known as a cover singer, from the very start she has put herself forward as wanting to be more than a singer, proud that she had a hand in writing almost all of listen up, even the song she didn't write was not a cover....
Just because she's making a name singing covers now does not mean that's what she wants for herself (she's said often her desire to be a songwriter, signed with a publishing company who sent her to song writing camps), and that's what Better is, HER album, financed by Ole, a publishing company, not a label, a company whose bread and butter is based on placing songs.
All you say is true, but I see that coming into her next album that will probably have label backing, which means wanting to move units, will have marketing and backing behind it, more chefs in the kitchen, more people involved and more reliant on iTunes and radio play
That isn't what it sounds like #Better is. An Independent Artist release, this album will be more personal, meaning coming from her, her songs, financed by her publishing company who's modus operandi isn't advertising, promotion and moving iTunes/units, isn't promoting songs they don't own (CHFIL doesn't count, it's a song of opportunity, springboarding the album). If she indeed is going to sign w/ a Label after #Better, I think she would take the opportunity to sculpt #Better the way she wants, and IMO that means having as many of her songs as she can fit, songs she's written on it.
It's not uncommon for young unknown artists to make their names selling covers...cover songs are a means to an end, most successful artists evolve out of that to write songs that represent them.

I agree with Tusk that it seems unlikely we'll see more covers on the upcoming album-- although personally I wouldn't mind one. While Haley's cash flow would have to be growing, you'd think that Ole would contribute the most to the upfront cost of a Tour. I honestly don't know how that works.
When Haley is on her tour this summer, I'm hoping she breaks out a few covers. My favorite of those she's currently singing is Can't Find My Way Home. I wonder if she'd sing Creep on her own tour-- maybe with a bit of a different arrangement? Would that create bad vibes with Scott?

Her doing an album full of originals that she wrote without a label would also show label companies that her original material is strong and that might give her some more freedom if she does end up signing.

Talk about serendipity, so glad she didn't sing the song she had been singing on the Radio Tour, "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" in Portland (She sang it as SXSW), and for some reason, chose to do the Traffic version of Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home"....that half minute scat was sublime, among one of my favorite Haley scats

I doubt Scott would have a problem with it, plus you know that Haley would take a few seconds to promote Scott and PMJ in her intro of the song.... It also Haley's interpretation of the song that sold it

I think Haley getting some Label backing for an album is pretty much the next step. As Haley said a couple times, #Better is a gift for her fans that've waited for so long, a reward for helping elevate her into a position where she can take advantage of the opportunities that came along until she came to one that really PoPs

I've been saying that, in a sense, #Better will also determine leverage, in some respects, in her agreement with a label. I think that she's written mulitple songs that have made money for both Ole and her, pretty much elevates her value as a musical commodity, she's got good leverage already (not forgetting her charisma and personality
), her independent release of songs will only strengthen her position
