RE: Next album will be blusier - KelseyW. - 02-16-2016
April may come or go, but I can't help but imagine the song theme and visuals for what is hopefully her sophomore album...What do you guys think her second album photo shoot will be like? Her first was special and it might be hard to top, but I think a creative photographer(and subject)can do it. <3
For her first album photo shoot she showed off her laid back personality and the photo shoot had a summery theme. Then the cover art itself was charming and had a pop culture reference that added to it. I guess the second cover might be a tad moodier and might not be a close up of her face...As for the rest of the shoot? That's all I got. lol
I can't for the life of me think of what the overall song theme could involve, but then again I'm only familiar with a few of her newer songs.

The video stills we've seen do seem a bit moodier, but he pictures we've seen are all sunshine and flowers. I can't wait!!

Regarding the first Listen Up album photo shoot, I think Haley had a lot to do with that content. Most of the photos were based on a mix of one of the Reinhart's favorite movies "Sandlot" with lifeguard Wendy Peffercorn and Haley's employment before Idol at the Wheeling Aquatic Center. It also featured her Hula-Hoop Championship.
I assume they won't waste the all-day photo shoot they did for the "Better" EP that many of us watched unfold on Periscope a few months ago. If a record label is involved they may add their own stuff to it, but I'm sure Haley will have major input. I think you're right about her sophomore album photos being grittier and stylistic in a more maturely wholesome but a sultry sexy way.

For her second CD cover art and theme, I do think Haley needs to move away from the pinup sexy look of "Listen Up" and go for a more mature, but still sexy and alluring look for "Better". I often wonder if the artwork on "Listen Up" may have hurt her in a way because it came across as almost too sexy.
I remember one older poster somewhere who loved the CD so much but felt funny showing it to his friends because it looked so "Va Va Voom". And, what I found frustrating is that "Listen Up" is SO GOOD and amazing for a debut CD, that perhaps some people looked at lightweight because of the pinup look of Haley. I often thought the image and theme I have attached below would have been a better fit to match such a stellar CD.

I was watching the Grammys last night and wondered if things had been different (with Interscope and their release strategy, etc, etc) that Haley would have (should have) at least been nominated for Best New Artist in 2012. I don't know Tori Kelly, but she was a former Idol in S9 who did not make it to Top 24 and look at her now.

I found the artwork on L.U. innocently sexy and suitable for a young girl to own, but that's just my opinion.

Yea, it wasn't over the top at all. It was very old school sexy though.
