RE: James Durbin Era 3 - Miguel - 01-07-2017 Quote:Miguel @HaleyFansDotCom 18s RE: James Durbin Era 3 - Miguel - 03-03-2017 Quote:JAMES DURBINVerified account @DurbinRock 2h Article: Quote:Quiet Riot are planning to release a new record, Road Rage, on April 21. However, when they return to the road in March, they will have a new lead singer. There are reports out of Germany that Seann Nicols has been replaced by James Durbin, who had been a fourth-place finisher on the 10th season of American Idol. RE: James Durbin Era 3 - john - 03-03-2017 It might turn out well for James Audio track is out of sync Old Quiet Riot RE: James Durbin Era 3 - Tusk - 03-03-2017 Billboard RE: James Durbin Era 3 - Outcast - 03-06-2017 I was never into Quiet Riot but I'm happy for James. His solo tour numbers have gone way down since 2012 so fronting an established band is a more viable option for him at this time. Just wish it was a bigger, more recent band. He expressed interest in fronting Stone Temple Pilots when Scott Weiland died and I would've preferred that but oh well. James is the 6th or 7th singer QR hired since Kevin DuBrow's death in 2007 and the roll out for their new album (recorded without him) and new lineup is a total clusterf*ck but they all seem to be really psyched about him. The Maps the Hollywood Scars EP he composed and recorded with Alex Gossi is pretty good but aside from the lead single Till Death, I much prefer Riot On Sunset. They did another one which will come out in the next month or so. James also plans to release a solo acoustic EP and a Seacliff Oakies EP with Heidi later this year. James collabs with Alex Gossi does give me hope that QR will allow him creative input as Frankie Banali has praised his songwriting skills. If QR is looking to update their sound and target younger listeners this could pay off for both parties which is would be great. That said Banali concerns me a bit, he appears to be quite a diva as is his wife. Both have taken some jabs at the previous singers when discussing the hiring of James on FB. If things go sour I won't be surprised if they bash James too though he has learned how to handle these situations professionally over the years. What I hope is that this will raise James profile and lead to him fronting a better band, while continuing to release his own music on the side. RE: James Durbin Era 3 - Miguel - 03-10-2017 Quote:JAMES DURBINVerified account @DurbinRock 2h Better wording, since he's part of the band now, "QuietRiot will be postponing..." RE: James Durbin Era 3 - Outcast - 03-12-2017 Interesting development, so they are giving him creative input, this is good. It was the right thing to do, as they wouldn't have been able to promote the album with the former singer on it. Since I'm a fan of James songwriting as well as his vocals I'm definitely looking forward to hearing Road Rage when it's released. RE: James Durbin Era 3 - Tusk - 03-12-2017 I know he hates the comparison, but it should be pointed out his career continues, in a sense, to shadow Adam Lambert's, not that that's a bad thing, Adam is doing quite well, possibly the 3rd most recognized AI alumni after Kelly and Carrie. Adam replaced an Iconic singer of an Iconic rock band. Obviously, Quiet Riot's story isn't in the same stratosphere as Queen's, but they have a strong following in the genre as well as name recognition. If they could afford to go back and put James' vocals on their new album, it makes alot of sense to do so, it also says what QR thinks of James, that, to them, he's not a 'temporary' member like those others that replaced Kevin Dubrow ![]() Quote:Regarding the critically important decision to re-record with new Quiet Riot vocalist James Durbin, Banali said, “After careful consideration, with the support of Frontiers and understanding the appeals from Quiet Riot fans to have our vocalist James Durbin represented on the new Quiet Riot release, we have made the decision to move forward and have James replace all the vocals on “Road Rage” with new lyrics and melodies for a summer 2017 release. Stay tuned!” RE: James Durbin Era 3 - Outcast - 03-13-2017 ^I believe Bo Bice started the trend of AI alums fronting legacy rock bands, he's been fronting Blood, Sweat & Tears for quite a few years now. James case is different to Adam's and Bo's cause QR hired him to write and record new original material, in addition to performing their classic hits live. Queen and BS&T are strictly touring bands now and all Adam and Bo do is provide vocals for live performances of their classic hits - songs they had no hand in creating. James has a much bigger role in QR than Adam and Bo have in the legacy bands they front. RE: James Durbin Era 3 - Tusk - 03-13-2017 Quote:Roger Taylor says it's “quite possible” Queen will record new songs with singer Adam Lambert in the future. The band has reconvened for two album projects since original singer Freddie Mercury died, 1995's Made in Heaven and the 2014 compilation, Queen Forever – but that was only to update leftover material.Nov 15, 2016 http://ultimateclassicrock.com/queen-lambert-new-music/ Comparing Queen and QR's discography, their stories, you can see their motivations as far as writing new music. Especially when one of QR's "Greatest Hits" is a cover of an old, little known in the States, British Rock song "Cum On Feel the Noise" (Slade). Writing a new QR song, looking at both band's songs, doesn't come near the complexity of Queen's song writing. I am really happy for James, he's worked hard all these years, is a true family man. I want this opportunity to be all he can make it. That being said, the opportunity to write and record new songs with their respective bands, I don't think they're equivalent. QR affords James a better opportunity to be involved, than would Adam's opportunity with Queen. QR, even with new songs, probably won't reach a fraction of what Queen has accomplished. That fact reflects on the opportunities that are available to their respective Idol Frontman. Adam, with Queen, will always play to bigger audiences, be heard by more fans, and given the opportunity to write, his music will reach farther than James and QR will. Adam paid his dues leading to being heard and hired by Queen. James is now reaping the rewards of his work, bigger fan base, better exposure. As Adam is now experiencing the height of his exposure, I look on James joining QR as more of a stepping stone to bigger and better JMO :P Quote:Tusk @HaleysTusk Quote:James Durbin @DurbinRock |
