RE: What's Your Favorite Movie (and why) - NUG - 08-15-2012
I see you've got lots of classics going here - funny how my husband has to watch Jeremiah Johnson every time it's on TV yet...we do have the DVD. I think I know every line - that and every Clint Eastwood movie there is..."I know what you're thinkin'. Did he fire 6 shots or only 5" ."I gots ta know..."
Anyway, has anyone seen the new Will Farrell flick? The Candidate?

I have not seen The Candidate NUG, have you?
The whole Jeremiah Johnson thing, DVD vs Live TV...I understand it, I just can't explain it...something to do with the Y chromosome...hunt, kill, eat, find the female

haha Buzz, I do understand too....doncha know I have to watch You've Got Mail every time it's on, and yes I have the DVD too.
I haven't seen The Candidate yet, but we all (husband, son and I ) are huge Will Farrell fans, so I'm sure we'll see it this weekend. My son has modeled a large part of his personality after "Anchorman"....it's my own fault I admit.

I finally got around to seeing Avatar today, and in 3D too - Very cool movie. I felt reborn when I walking out of the theater (the home theater room of my friend with the 200" screen)
But no worries, I won't take it this far:
Toilet papering the tree to have a "Tree of Souls"... ROFLOL

In as 'Good At it Gets' his character of Melvin Udall exemplifies some of Jack's best talents...his ability to offend, demean, intimidate, surprise, charm, and be philosophical. I love the line he gives to the Latino housekeeper...Quote:Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

Loved the jazz music in the restaurant scene you showed above...Danielle Brisebois "My Only"
Haley could do an album like this (almost sounds like Haley in the song at times)...that would be as good as it gets! :hearts Fun factoids: Danielle Brisbois, first, on Broadway in "Annie" as a young child; then on the TV show "Archie Bunker's Place" as a slightly older child, maybe Archie's niece?, then part of the group The New Radicals, who made one of my all time favorite CDs about 8-10 years ago. One of the best songs on the CD features Danielle. (Brother) You Just Can't Get Enough.

^ LOL - "Sweet Cherelann" is what comes to mind when I think about you,
So was "I felt like I was in another dimension" a result of seeing Black Stallion, or was it a result of the 60's?
It does look like a movie I'd like and I've added it to the "must see" list
(along with about 6 others from this thread ).
And Buzz, thanks for the Anger Management vid. I forgot about that movie, but I loved it- Super funny! Of course it's hard to miss with Jack Nicholson in a comedy role. Also, Adam Sandler, even though I'm not a big fan, I have seen a few of his movies and loved them all (Happy Gilmore, Mr. Deeds and 50 First Dates). And your post also reminded me of a movie that is in the running for my all time favorite, "As Good as It Gets":
Melvin Udall's greatest hits from As Good as it Gets
And perhaps my favorite scene from a movie (for too many reasons to list):
As good as it Gets - Legendary Jack Nicholson
Sorry I'm late here, but I have to say I love this movie and this scene especially. God
what woman did not want to smack him after what he said to her in that restaurant! But, my tie-in to Haley here is, at the end, when he tells her how he watches her wait on people every day in the restaurant, and how he thinks to himself how those people don't get that they were just waited on by the greatest woman alive, and it makes him feel good about himself b/c he gets it...sorry, a little OOT here, but kind of says how it makes me feel good that I "get" Haley. Aw shucks...

Not that this is a typical reaction, but my sister-in-law called today and said she was totally disappointed in the latest Will Ferrell movie. She said it was so crude and humorless that she almost walked out, except she was with female friends. A total departure from his typical family friendly humor...didn't expect that from a Will Ferrell movie.

I guess I am always hoping to love his new movie as much as I loved Anchorman (which would also be my favorite movie, to answer this thread. I love carpet. I love chair.).

and of course my Holiday classic: Elf
