aha ha she is back in LA, run with it Hales. it coud be that after she is finished wrighting songs, she'll get signed. The label want's to see and hear her music before they commit, IMO

These are exciting time, right here, right now. The anticipation begins to build as something real and imminent comes to our attention. New Haley music, now THAT is something to stir the imagination!

Just wondering...Who pays for the new album if Haley's not signed? and who's paying for the writing sessions?
Does she have to write new songs for a new record company to hear before signing? That doesn't sound right. Won't they want to have some influence on who she writes with?
OR has she already found a new label, and their just not announcing it yet. ......

Perplexing possiblities with this.
I wish I knew more about the business. Its proven really hard to dig up much about the business on the internet. We found a few good pieces on the royalty and advance thing but the nitty gritty of how outside song writers and recording studios , musicians etc get paid is a mystery to me. I expect the studio musicians get an hourly or gig rate and get paid in full and done with .
I really don't know how the recording studios/ mixers etc get paid . There must be a lot upfront, but is it all ?
Do they sometimes just record("produce?") songs with artists they think can make a good product and go out and sell pitch the completed songs? I know it is a feast or famine business and if you aren't getting paid and have an empty studio and free days, I can see that kind of guy putting his effort to good use and trying to sell it later?

Some combination of 19M / 19R / 19E is likely paying for the costs (never 100% clear on the separation btween the 3 ). (Her original contract with 19R was intertwined with Interscope so I've read and couldn't survive. But 19R may get involved again yet).
Possible some of it is also coming out of pocket, but doubt if that's the majority of the funding.
(BTW, I was never clear on exactly who was funding the first album: 19R or Interscope or 19R with payback with Interscope, both, etc.).

^^Thanks for the info figure8. Also, I should try and ask her dad next time I see him. He usually doesn't like to give away too much info, but might give me a hint.

Haley followed Rob Kleiner and Skyler Stonestreet on instagram today. That could have been who she was writing with.
PS: Long-time lurker, first-time poster
