I'm glad your enjoying your new cd MAE. What a funny coincidence that Irvin would have Don't Know Why and Like A Star on his album, and those are 2 songs Haley has done covers of. It makes me feel like the match up of Irvin and Haley was meant to be. It was definitely one of those right time, right place when she met Irvin Mayfield!

Haley's got her hands in many pots right now, but this is definitely a cool connection for her! SmileWink

I actually found this when researching my videos for Mayfield/Carnegie Hall.

Don't Know Why has always been a favorite since the first time I heard Norah Jones sing it, and a song I'd thought would be a great song for Haley to cover. Haley did such a marvelous, beautiful rendition of it.

^^Actually yesterday, as I was listening to the Marsalis/Mayfield cd, I did a Youtube search for Don't Know Why by Mayfield, and found that video. Because I like the Marsalis/Mayfield version better (the tempo's the same, but the arrangement is a more stripped down version and without background distraction), I didn't include it in my post above.

I heard the Norah Jones version of that song through John's post on the Music Videos thread on this site two years ago (??), and like you, Tusk, thought it would be a great song for Haley to cover. And when she did, it was terrific -- all that I had hoped for.

Yesterday, I forgot to mention another Irvin/Haley song connection. On a different album, Mayfield has recorded Moanin'.
