Creep, now Elvis as Haley takes on Jena Irene.
Christina's isn't even close to Jena's or Haley's. Haley and Jena really brought out the emotion of the song while Christina was just shouting at the top of her lungs to show off her vocals. Haley's and Jena's tones are what make their versions so beautiful, not vocal acrobatics. Haley's in particular gives me that stomach dropping feeling the way she phrases certain words. I'll give Haley the edge too for her tone, because I think it works better for the song, but I'll take Jena's or Haley's version any day. Haley also brings out the meaning of the song better than either one imo.

Michelle Chamuel also did a cover of this song. This song can be so beautiful when sung right. (The Ingrid Michaelson arrangement, which Haley, Michelle, and Jena used...seems to be the right way to go..)
Michelle and Haley are my favorite covers, but I'm biased.
I agree completely about Christina's cover. And it's a shame too, because she has such a beautiful soft voice. (Her headvoice is second to none) and yet she insists on overusing her screechy belt. (And not only that, but the girl has the most adorable personality too.)

I definitely think a stripped down piano version while singing from the soul is the way to go with this one.

Lovely. Also a reminder, as we all impatiently watch Haley's ongoing breakthrough, the competition is fierce (and I don't mean the packaged autotune divas).
That's why we celebrate each victory -- quiet gems (Dear Prudence, Pathetic) or sudden surprises like CHFIL.

It seems that this video was made private or blocked after a brief appearance in the past, but I found it is available now (not the entire song).
Lauren Alaina sings "Blue" at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville in 2011
Vs.
Interesting that in that summer of 2011 Lauren appeared on the big stage in Nashville and choose to start with Blue. Long ago I wondered if Haley's performance of Blue early on in Season 10, knocked down Lauren's shakey confidence a bit. I doubt she saw that coming as Haley came over to the country lane for the night. The GOO performance of the song suggests it was part of her repertoire and she might have performed it on AI at some point if Haley hadn't done it first.

I think that's a different video than the one that was first posted. I seem to remember the first one was from a floor perspective, video more fuzzy and almost the whole performance

Honestly the Blue performance that Haley did on AI was when she first began to win me over as a fan. I do not like county music at all but when she sang this song, I was so impressed. I think she did a wonderful job and was amazed that night when she went country. It has been quite a while since I watched it so thanks for posting.

I agree. Not a country music fan but I always liked "Blue". Haley had it all going that night. The dress, the hair, the beauty, the voice, the confidence, the musicians, the arrangement. I think a lot of country votes came to Haley after that performance.

Recently eliminated (but had no business being in the Bottom 3) Avalon Young singing "The Way You Make Me Feel."
If they're going to have former idols sing with contestants during the finale, I wouldn't mind seeing Avalon and Haley sing that together.
