Josh has this Clark Kent - Superman thing going. Mild mannered PK by day, throwing some swag on the stage. He just grabbed up a huge voting block.
It's about time that more people than Melinda Doolittle & I get the vocal chops this kid has! So happy he had this kind of reaction to his performance tonight!

Yep I had the goose pimple action going on big time during Josh's performance last night. He killed it. I hope he enjoyed that crawfish last night too. He deserved it.

I actually watched most of AI tonight. One new twist to the show that I really enjoyed is where Jimmy gets to tell Randy he is full of crap. LOL. Unfortunately it comes a little late since voting is already over, but it does help to expose the fact that Randy's critiques are often just a bunch of gibberish. Just keeping it real Randy.

I wish they would replace that loser with will. i. am., and yes I love Jimmy's critiques which I believe they started at top six last year. I hope it remains a permanent fixture on the show to keep the judges honest.
It also appears that Elise is the Haley of this year. Probably because of her age and also because she looks her age, not many fans have gotten behind her. Of course, having a Whitney Houston night so early in the season didn't help and neither did the judges being unnecessarily overly harsh to her either. Nevertheless, I love her soulful and bluesy voice and the feeling she puts into her performances. I hope like Haley the fans eventually get behind her, as I think she is top 5 talent and I would like to see her get a record deal.
eta: I just listen to Elise's studio version and as they say it's dope. In fact, to me it's better than Joshua Ledet's studio. Joshua beat her on the show performance, but Elise nipped him on the studios.

Singing & arrangement - great, great! It Elise keeps that up she's got a major career ahead of her.

Actually, I'd be quite pleased if Elise and Joshua make it to the top five. Joshua really has given consistently good performances since the Vegas group song, in my opinion. I think that he had the misfortune of going first during the SW/WH night, and people forgot how good he was (and he wasn't in his comfort zone!). And if Elise can continue the momentum that she got last week with this terrific rendition of "Let's Get Together" then top five for both may not be unrealistic.
I also find draw comfort from some other aspects: many have commented that the overall talent in this year's top ten contestants is all quite high. Given that eight out of the final eleven of last year's group got recording contracts, that may bode well for this year's "crop." And then there's the reality that some who have been voted off seemingly early have gone on to very successful careers: Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson. And then there's that girl --umm -- Haley Reinhart -- who's new single seems to be making quite a splash today

That's what I hate about Idol, it isn't fair. It sucks that Erica has to go and Heejun the loon (hey, that rhymes. I'm a poet and I didn't even know it) gets to stay. He is not even funny anymore and his singing is Gawd awful.

Erica gave my favorite performance last night. AI really isn't a singing contest, it is a popularity contest with way too much behind the scenes manipulation.
I am not voting this year because I cannot overcome the text voters. Beside the fact that it takes too much time to power vote, I just don't see a chance in hell for the good singers to be able to overcome the tween fanaticism...
