If it ends up being only 6 songs on the EP, I can't see both LIWFF & KMO making it onto the list. They are too similar in just six song, LIWFF having the best initial reaction. In fact, of my Room5 Videos, Pathetic has already passed KMO for views. KMO had a fair lead initially and had the initial advantage of being posted in some media outlets because it was a 'new' song.

Tusk I had similar thoughts to you with respect to My Cake. The scatting -- the ad lib -- is the part that makes that song work so well. I'm not sure it carries well to a static recording.
We've heard a musically bare bones version of Knock Me Out, which I think limits its replay appeal. I'd love to hear the song with a full band and the right arrangement. I think it has potential.
As far as David Block goes, I recently visited his FB page and he continues to do his thing. It's my impression that he likes to do his thing and Haley might be a bit too much for him. The collaboration made for some interesting summer experiences for Haley, I'm sure, but going forward I would see projects with him as more of a potential distraction than a path to anything.

Of all the songs mentioned as possible inclusions, Better is actually my favorite. I love the lyrics and Haley's voice on it especially when she throws that ring in the ocean. I like Cake, particularly the ad lib aspects, but it's hard for me to get beyond it being centered around such a well-known common saying.

My initial reaction to KMO.... "goosebumps" was mostly due to Haley's voice at the beginning. I agree w/ Yanni, it's a bit repetitive if not for Haley's rich vocals singing it.
Which brings up another question... how much production? Haley's one of those voices the more production, more instrumentation you do to it, it lessens her vocal impact. A fairly oft heard complaint about LU was that they processed her voice too much.... It was a very big issue with SMYM as well, some even thought she was auto tuned
I can see potential for KMO with a fuller musical sound lifting Haley's vocals. I think their production decisions are going to be vital to the EP. To be marketable in a competitive but shrinking market, yet keep the core of what makes Haley's voice so unique, especially to a large number of her fans.
I hope they get producers who produce Jazz Records, those aware of the texture of the notes played on an instrument... Make no mistake, Haley's voice is a finely tuned instrument

Ole is likely thinking first and foremost about placements, so songs considered to have universal appeal are most likely to be chosen.
RE: Ole signs Haley to New Worldwide Deal! New EP! - Tusk - 11-09-2014
Placement can also include Movie placement, so it doesn't limit the type of songs to be univeral aka popular songs.... Undone has shown that, given the chance, Spiderweb also sets a mood as does Oh My (and the never heard performed live "Liar" ).
Another thing to come to mind when I 1st heard KMO, is it reminded me of a Randy Newman song (especially at the beginning) ...and we know how he did scoring movies

Probably unrelated to Haley except that she did some voice over work earlier this year that may translate into an opportunity with another Ole client
From the Hollywood Reporter article:
Quote:Nerd Corps has around 400 artists at its Vancouver animation studio. DHX Media is best known for its Yo Gabba Gabba!, Caillou and Inspector Gadget kids series.
...The Canadian producer is distributing its expanding kids content library to its own premium YouTube channels and other subscription-based VOD platforms internationally. The deal for Nerd Corps is expected to close by Dec. 24, 2014.

Haley did say that ole really wants her to work with some producers and come up with some new stuff, even though she said she already has enough songs and would like to get the EP out quicker. There's a chance they end up making some awesome songs and ole pushes for those to be on the EP instead of the older ones we've already heard. We'll just have to wait and seeeeee I hope we get an update or some news by the time it's new years.

Remember Ole is in the business of placing music and collecting royalties. There might be some songs Haley is partial to that they don't like from a marketing perspective. For instance, "Better," which Anders Grahn had a hand in, might be more marketable than "My Cake."
