i just wanted to take a second to share what i've learned this week.
i'm not attending the festival, but my wife Marie Dornan is, i just hopped in her suitcase and tagged along. every night she tells me about the amazing experiences she has had, lessons she has learned and connections that she has made.
as i hang out around the hotel i see a lot of people involved in KMF in conversation and hanging out, talking story & learning from each other. people just really enjoying their time together, so it's quite clear my wife is not alone in her experience!
what i've really come to understand about the Kaua'i Music Festival is that for all of the amazing sessions, speakers, staff, musicians and experiences you have put together, i think the greatest lesson you have been teaching is how to be ohana, a family.
i keep hearing from my wife and from others, how comfortable they have felt in sharing their songs, thoughts & ideas and how no matter who they are speaking to, there has been a constant outpouring of love, support and aloha.
i just wanted to take a minute to acknowledge every, single person involved on both sides of this amazing, one of a kind experience! something special has been built here and we look forward to coming back next year. yes, WE. i may not be a musician, but i look forward to volunteering and being able to help this family to continue to flourish.

^^You are so right, Himm. Haley's voice is so singular that backing instrumentation isn't required for maximum pleasure.
The pictures coming from this Hawaiian adventure make me think about how full and amazing Haley's life is right now. She is gaining experiences that are fulfilling and the sorts of things that fill the memory banks with lifelong joy. I also come away with the awareness that much of the fullness of Haley's experiences come from the openness of her personality, the generosity of her spirit and her genuine love for other people. Haley isn't just along for the ride, she is really living life to the fullest and taking nothing for granted. She is living life the way we all should and rarely do. She really is someone worthy of admiration.
