She really deserves it and has so much to offer! And I applaud Haley's songwriting abilities. I mean look at the words to this song! There has been some talk here of signing with management and/or labels etc, but I think Haley is being very very careful in taking her next step. Everybody wants a big piece of the pie. ![]() RE: Haley & Casey at Room 5 August 29th - midnightblues - 08-30-2014 She has really refined the growl RE: Haley & Casey at Room 5 August 29th - lovinghaleyr - 08-30-2014 Rachel,Yanni I want add my congrats for yours vid's,pics and comment. Thank you so much for filming and posting all of these Rachel!! They turned out great!! Thank you too Yanni!! I got to see the one's you posted last night. My favorite two, of their set, were the brand new ones "Love is Worth Fighting For" & "Never Knew What Love Could Do", which I'm pretty fairly confident now is an original. There are 2 songs, w/ that title that showed up in a Google search & neither of them sound anything like it. Also, Haley mentions that "You Were There" was the 1st song they wrote together so.... Anyway, I think those are two of the best they've written. I probably need to give it a couple of weeks, but "Love is Worth Fighting For" might be my favorite song Haley's ever written. I was really feeling her on that one. Love the lyrics, great melody, incredible vocal. I'm going to be listening to it a lot. She never publicly performs (& tries to keep secret) the songs she makes available to other artists thru Ole. And it's just too good to get left off of her next LP. It's curious, there is a song called "I Never Knew" with music written by Ted Fio Rito and lyrics by Gus Kahn. It was first recorded in 1925 and has been recorded many times, often as an instrumental version (for example, Benny Goodman). There are some melodic similarities to Caley's song in spots I think, although the Fio Rito and Kahn song is more of a fast, swing tune. The lyrics of the songs are much different although the Kahn lyrics include "I never knew what love could do, until I met you today." Caley's song has the lyric "Never knew what love can do, until I met found you today." Compare about 8-10 seconds of these two clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qedo7pzIVd8#t=109 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXG0llUXsNA&list=UUvKEPnEACSj8waU_0N3N1Kg#t=173 RE: Haley & Casey at Room 5 August 29th - Miguel - 08-31-2014 An earlier post I made and then hid because I didn't want to derail the thread at the time: Different songs of the same name as "I NEVER KNEW WHAT LOVE COULD DO" Selvin's Newport Society Orchestra 1925: Then there's "I never knew" Quote:A gorgeous song from the 1955 film Pete Kelly's Blues, starring Peggy Lee. Here she sings and makes her own a song from the 1920s which many other (including Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole covered). RE: Haley & Casey at Room 5 August 29th - john - 08-31-2014 Miguel, The first song you posted is the instrumental version written by Fio Rito, and the Peggy Lee version is the same song with the vocals and slower. Sinatra's song is the same one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-spkeW-hrU#t=145 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qedo7pzIVd8#t=109 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXG0llUXsNA&list=UUvKEPnEACSj8waU_0N3N1Kg#t=173 |
