RE: Haley again recording with PMJ - john - 07-09-2015 I think OIDIA is a song that allowed Haley to have some fun and go a little over the top. She likes to play roles like the slinky, sexy songstress in this song. It will be a fun song for her to perform on stage. Her dropping of consonants and pronounciation quirks never bothered me. Some people really nit pick that issue even when it is less prominent. I think Haley is about sounds and flow -- like in her scatting -- and the formal pronounciation of a word is not so important. Artist license. As far as negative remarks go, I do think early on the videos are visited by the veteran PMJ listeners who respond quickly to the weekly video release. Many are Robyn loyalists and some have a chip on their shoulder that PMJ has been changing. RE: Haley again recording with PMJ - Tusk - 07-09-2015 I would have liked to have seen what she would have done w/ "Toxic", probably my favorite Britney song/video ![]() (maybe partly due to it was written and produced by a Swedish song writing team, Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg aka Bloodshy & Avant?) Comment on the Amy Winehouse cover in Laguna, a reply to another comment wondering if Amy Winehouse fans would find Haley's cover 'awesome'? Quote: I'm one and id say yes their voices are similar and since we don't have amy anymore. I think it great within the same hour s/he posted on Haley and PMJ's OIDIA Quote:Wow I'm in love with her voice now. ![]() ![]() RE: Haley again recording with PMJ - Elizz - 07-09-2015 (07-09-2015, 07:41 PM)Tusk Wrote: I would have liked to have seen what she would have done w/ "Toxic", probably my favorite Britney song/video TOTALLY AGREE. I would have preferred Toxic. Surprised OIDIA was chosen over that one, but I still really like Haley's rendition! Especially those notes at the end. Really cool vibe to the song, I like this better than the original. They go on to say that bandleader Scott Bradlee and the rest of PMJ created this particular cover with a very special 1950’s celeb in mind. “We’re reimagining Britney Spears’ ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’ as if it was written for another icon — Britney’s idol Marilyn Monroe — decades ago. - RE: Haley again recording with PMJ - mercfan3 - 07-09-2015 (07-09-2015, 07:30 PM)john Wrote: I think OIDIA is a song that allowed Haley to have some fun and go a little over the top. Most of the time I agree with that. She's not a classical singer, so it's a stylistic choice..and she's much more concerned with sounds that properly pronouncing lyrics. (She had a different kind of pronunciation as well, it's very old school R&B.) And I will say, the close listener will notice that 99.9% of the time, she's not dropping the consonant, she sings it softly. It did bother me first listen on this song in particular, but I listened to it again, and she only truly drops it on the "again" (in the studio, you really can't hear it that well in the video). It's not my favorite, but I'm so tied to the original melody that it was going to be hard for me. I LOVE the little tribute she does to the dance to this. And it would be awesome to get Britney's attention with this, she loves the jazz nightclub arrangements of her songs, and has done a few of her own during her shows. I bet she'd love it. Goes with the territory ( negative comments) she has put out more content with PMJ than she has in a long time - we are all psyched fans of hers - PMJ fans looking for something different??? She is still getting press so it is okay for her no matter what.... RE: Haley again recording with PMJ - Miguel - 07-09-2015 Well, controversy is usually good for an artist. And in Haley's case, most critics will concede she has talent. They just don't like how she uses it. I like this YT comment: Quote:Haley does not sing, she plaaays her voice... <3 RE: Haley again recording with PMJ - mercfan3 - 07-09-2015 That comment is perfect. And also, just going by likes verses dislikes..clearly far more people love it than hate it. The negative just screams louder...and everyone (even Jesus) has critics.
