Then again, "Let me see you roll, roll..." in SMYM wasn't written about teaching dogs tricks either :/
Advertisers pick and chose, don't need to be literal in their choice of songs for their products or for placement

It's not much about creating things that are "Better" And that is the point of the movie, a single mother who picks herself up after a failed marriage and makes her life better. The fact that the character becomes financially successful based on improving existing products, i.e., making them better, is I believe secondary to the story. It's about this woman's struggle and ultimate success over several decades. I was just making a play on the word "better", but it's not inconceivable that a director could throw little pieces in at various points of the movie, and not play the whole song until the end.
I could also envision Better being a song played during the last part of the movie credits; you know the part where there are too many names to read because the font is so small and the screen is rolling so fast. It often takes more than one piece of music to cover the credits of a big movie, and a new piece of music might fit in at the part where, unfortunately, most of the audience has already exited the theatre. Imagine the very last words before the screen goes dark and the lights go on - BETTER - BETTER - BETTER!

I see that vividly! Perfect fit!
I guess more in the middle of a movie the "problem" would be that the song is so strong that it can distract from the movie, it is not a background song. So there'd have to be a perfect moment for the song to be dominant, like the protagonist walking away after having made the decision, or looking out over the ocean contemplating the new life, or looking back at all that was achieved after.
And who knows what other songs the EP might have that fit other settings. The holdup doesn't have to be about Better but about the EP, where the single would be timed in correlation to the EP.
Also it doesn't have to be a movie - another major commercial would probably do it, too!
better, Better, BETTER! No, I am not leaving this movie theatre! I demand a concert!

This is pretty much what I was thinking when I posed the question. Obviously, it would be far BETTER to be the first song played during the credits, but even the last would be awesome (normally there are only a couple of songs played, 3 max probably). Some movies release soundtracks, and even the last song played would be on it? Plus there would be DVD/Blueray sales... we can dream, can't we??

Maybe, they will release it with a big press release about Haley being signed with Anthem Records? And maybe tie it in with the video for the song-and who knows, maybe that got delayed?
I am frustrated by the delay, but think it might mean good things for Haley--a more coordinated splash with more media and PR exposure.....
BTW, I listened to the longer snippet of "Better" and really, really like it. Is it a radio single? Who knows--but I think her Idol fanbase will like it alot given its rock guitars and Haley's growling vocals. ALL GOOD HALIENS!
I agree that the release of the single and/or EP could be tied to Ole's acquisition of Anthem Records. Given their long history, the success this year with the Chase and Extra commercials, as well as Haley's success with PMJ, I find it highly likely that Ole is very interested in signing Haley to their newly acquired label. I am hoping that that might be the case anyway. The relationship between Ole and Haley seems so genuine.

Oh dear, Team Haley is certainly showing signs of stress waiting for Better and the new EP. Even in a year with so many releases, appearances, and opportunities, we still can't wait for the next one.
Poor Rachbo....

LOL IT'S TORTURE THAT'S WHAT.
And especially, poor Butter...
Quote:This song is slowly driving me crazy (or should I say mad??). Every time I listen to it I visualize different scenarios, more and more bizarre, until now it has escalated into a full out Mandy Moore choreographed production in my head.
As usual, though, we have Tusk's voice of reason...
Quote:I've grown kind of calloused about it, in a way. Trying to look at the bright side, I have heard more than my share of "Better", so I'd rather they do what they think is 'right' instead of rush it out.
He's right, but I too am antsy with anticipation, which I am trying to manage with appropriate distraction.
Here's the distraction that's working for me tonight; maybe it will help some of my "tortured" and "crazy" friends.
and even more interestingly:
My the way, if you are intrigued by this guy, this and this are pleasantly twisted.

The flip came after the Rock the Runway 2015 performance of Kiss Me. Some combination of Haley's lovely harmonizing and the sisterly camaraderie had me all mellowed out. The cowboy hat & shades performance of Better followed, and I was completely hooked.
I was not familiar with Kiss Me, outside of Angie's several performances. I may have missed an earlier link, but here is Sixpence's original version from 1999's She's All That.
RE: Better! The Single - Tusk - 11-21-2015
That song was HUGE in it's day, you heard it everywhere and it actually fits Angela really well, her voice and her vibe
One of my biggest "Angela regrets" was not getting the video of Angela singing Nirvana with her friend playing guitar (I think she sang Nirvana's "All Apologies" )before it was taken down. It was a very interesting performance because I usually think of her singing more classic or folk type music, you wouldn't expect her to sing Nirvana, but she did a great job.
