While not this song, you raise a good point. Many of the songs on Haley's album have some great lyrics. Much more interesting and coherent than the typical stuff out there. The songwriting is like an extra bonus -- gee, she's more talented than I had thought. But as far as a Grammy goes, who knows, maybe Bob will get one for lyrics about racks, slacks and other drivel.

At the end of the video he apparently credits Haley for lyrics. (?)
Edit: it must be a video made by a fan who also put the Reinhart reference in the video. So, just a mislead.
I like this tune; I like the rhythm in it. But, Casey certainly seems to like to cram his songs full of a lot of syllables.

Who is the chick? I don't think she's his handler because she seems smitten with him and isn't fading into the background. Appears to be his date.

She's either his date or she's going to be soon after that interview LOL.. He's appears to just be learning that haha..
So didn't Haley co-write "Simple Life" for him?

No, she didn't. Sorry about putting that speculation out there.

Well, yes, it does seem that she's his date, but, from my perspective, there's quite a bit of awkwardness there. They don't really seem to know each other very well.
And, well, I think that most of you (haleyfan.com) know that I'm flat out in awe of Caseys' talent, but I'm struggling with some of his substance here. In this interview, he seems to be "railing" against technology, yet his recordings (past and present) rely on extraordinary amounts of technology.
He's young. And he has a great deal of "grappling" yet to do, to make the reconciliations that most who post here have made, but that he doesn't seem to have a clue about that hypocrisy is hugely ironic.

Alter Ego, Sometimes Casey brings to mind Todd Rundgren, whose 1972 album "Something/Anything?" was credited simply to Rundgren. He wrote, played, sang, engineered, and produced everything on three of the four sides of the album. (per Wiki, etc.)
Listening to the red carpet interview brought to mind the song "Bang the Drum All Day." I looked up the song on YT and noticed this ad on the side:

So, using Haley's "everything happens for a reason" logic, I decided that what Casey is really trying to say is a variation of what TR expressed years ago in this song:
RE: I'm Casey and I just got signed. - Miguel - 05-27-2012
In this interview, the girl fades into the background, looking bored. Casey is asked about Haley performing on his album. He plays coy, but they tell him she told them she is. At that point, he looks a little annoyed but then confesses, "You'll hear it, and you'll melt."
