Anyone who knew me on IDF, knows I love this kid. I honestly think he was in the handful of extremely talented contestants that have gone through Idol. He's got a unique voice, incredible range (largest in AI history, he's shown D2 - C#6, but I'd wager it's larger) and his musicality is out of this world for someone so young and untrained (well for anyone, but especially someone so young and untrained.)
I always thought that had Haley tried out for Idol at 16-17, we would have seen a similar run to DeAndre's. Where her unique and fantastic taste in music would have inspired her to chose poor and unknown contest songs, where she would have been young enough and perhaps not confident enough to handle criticism or stand her ground in her decisions. Essentially her talent getting her to the top 10, but somewhat strangely, her brain keeping her out of it. (AKA, we would have seen Que Sera)
Anyway, his friend Molia B. has a single with him on it. Another problem with DeAndre's age, is that he seems to really love old school R&B. And with no other way to put this, the lyrics are obviously sexual, and he's clearly not comfortable with that yet. So although this sounds like a classic R&B song, it's very PG. I love the sound, not sure how I feel about the lyrics because he's singing what he's comfortable with, there's a little bit of cheesiness to it, imo.

The song he did with her a year or so ago though, was beautiful. And she really ought to consider putting it on her record.
