Adam Lambert - Tusk - 01-10-2013 Adam seems to have made significant gains overseas....wish he could take Haley along as his opening act. Of all the ex Idols not in her season, I think Adam could really help Haley, teach her how to access that larger world market. I feel they are kindred spirits in the AI universe. She's got all the tools and personality, she just needs someone that can show her how to maximize it. Love him or hate him, Adam has tons of experience. Seeing them together would make a nice counter balance... ![]() ETA: Both of them have exceptional voices...Adam has a wider range vocally but Haley has a uniqueness in her vocals that sets her apart. RE: Haley Reinhart's Voice - Tusk - 01-10-2013 I'm not a fan of his music, per se... for some reason, though, I can really see Haley being a good fit to open for him. She has enough of a spunky, irreverant attitude to fit right in and maybe gain some fans among the Glamberts. Even though his music is not my thing, I have alot of respect for how he conducts himself, how he has navigated and molded his opportunities. He sounds like a very intelligent, and thoughtful person and Haley could learn alot from him IMO. (I'd like to add, if I had my druthers, among all the Idol alumni, Kelly would be my ultimate act for Haley to open for....I only post regarding Adam in this instance because IMO, Adam, from my limted knowledge of him, can impart knowledge about overcoming challenges in the business and retaining your artistic vision, that could really be helpful for Haley RE: Haley Reinhart's Voice - mercfan3 - 01-10-2013 I really liked Adam's first album. It was almost like "broadway pop." His second album..there's only a few songs I really like, but I also don't know if I've given it enough of a chance. If I remember correctly, the Glamberts really liked Haley. It might have been because Adam was such a vocal fan, but I also think Glamberts are the type of fans who like pop artists that take chances with their music and aren't cookie cutter. I've also suggested that Haley and Kris Allen (when he's healthy) do an acoustic tour. That's really where both of them are their best. That said, I'd like to get Haley out of the Idol Universe too. My ideal for Haley would be Pink with second being Adele. I guess the 'gains' I thought Adam was making wasn't enough: Adam Lambert Splits with 19R http://www.mjsbigblog.com/164156.htm Quote:Adam Lambert and 19 Recordings have parted ways, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. ..... So many moving parts to this industry ![]() As if we didn't need a reminder tha even though music is about creativity..."MUSIC" is still a business ![]() In addition Quote:Now that 19R has moved on to partnering with UMG, I would imagine “lame duck” Idols still signed to both RCA and 19R will be moving off the 19 roster eventually. ..... ![]() RE: Haley Reinhart's Voice - Outcast - 01-12-2013 (01-10-2013, 03:06 PM)Tusk Wrote: Adam seems to have made significant gains overseas....wish he could take Haley along as his opening act. I totally disagree. I think she'll learn way more from Kelly Clarkson and Kelly actually is a global superstar and a million times more talented than Adam. Kelly's a true artist, Adam is just a musical prostitute and a fame whore. (01-10-2013, 05:59 PM)mercfan3 Wrote: If I remember correctly, the Glamberts really liked Haley. The Glamberts really liked Allison Iraheta too but opening for Adam during the USA leg of his GlamNation tour didn't do her any favours. Glamberts are fiercely loyal to their "rawk gawd" and refuse to support anyone else. Their attitude does him a huge disservice in that when, oops I mean "if", he hits rock bottom no headliner will take him as they know his fans will only stay for his set and leave when their set starts. I don't buy this story Adam's management is spinning to Shirley Halperin. RCA dropped him, Trespassing's sales were bad and all 3 of his singles flopped. I expect news about Adam "parting ways" with RCA to break shortly by a rep for the label. RE: Adam Lambert - Tusk - 01-12-2013 I did say in a post above that my 'dream' Idol alumnist for Haley to open for is Kelly, so on that we definitely agree. (Season 1 was the only one I watched througout other than S10) Like I said, Adam's music isn't my thing, I know 'of' him, and what I read on MJ's. But then again, there is a saturation of 'Adam news' on that site, so I tend to not read updates on Adam, unless it's relatively big, like this news, for instance. I thought having the opportunity to tour with "Queen" was pretty cool...But then again, because I wasn't overly involved in any season than S10, I don't carry the 'history' about Adam that many Idol fans seem to have. I'm fairly ambivalent about both Adam or Kris. They are both very talented, but, again, no pulling interest until, Haley. I've learned not to engage too heavily with other fan bases anymore, and not enough knowledge to speak of Adam's fans other than their reputation preceeds them and are they are very supportive of him. I've seen the negative side of fanbases from other idols too (Including Haley's) to try to not overly judge the Idol by their fans. All that being said, my OP about Haley learning from Adam has more to do with how I perceive Adam to have handled challenges in bringing a style that is not necessarily popular and doing a fairly good job at it. Despite much less sales than Kelly and Carrie, Adam is up there in public recognition as an Idol...more than others like Allen or Cook IMO. As valuable as any experience Kelly could impart, she had a different type of road to travel, being an Idol winner. Being the first Idol, she didn't have the adversities that Idols nowadays have. Working against the Idol stigma, being a runner up.... Kelly also is a pop artist, which means she wouldn't have the same challeges that Haley does with a less popular genre. RE: Adam Lambert - Outcast - 01-12-2013 Kelly managed to survive her My December era which almost killed her entire career. She made an album that her label openly opposed and bounced back. Someone who can survive a catastrophe like that can sure teach any noob a thing or two. RE: Adam Lambert - Tusk - 01-12-2013 This Billboard article on the split seems to think Adam's reach/popularity is fairly wide... Quote:Although Lambert saw little radio play in the U.S. for his latest offering, Trespassing (which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart), his success overseas has cemented his status as an international artist. Aside from appearances at massive events like the MNet Asian Music Awards and The Voice China, the latter of which was watched by some 500 million people, he played with Queen, hosted December's VH1 Divas 2012 special and there are plans for Lambert to tour Japan, Southeast Asia and Europe in 2013.http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/record-labels/adam-lambert-19-recordings-amicably-part-1008087362.story Again, I'm not a 'fan' but I can't deny he's made inroads, last year was a big one for him, internationally, apparently. RE: Adam Lambert - Outcast - 01-12-2013 All this info is coming from his management who's job is to make him look good. Until I hear word from RCA that they are in fact picking up his next option I'm not putting him on the safe list. Adam is not on a 360 deal, his label doesn't benefit from any of his gigs whether domestic or international. And radio refused to even add his last single Trespassing which tells me that radio isn't interested in his brand of pop. Niche artists don't need radio, aspiring pop stars do. |
