RE: POSTPONED TO SPRING 2017: EUROPEAN "Better" Tour - XAtlantic - 05-21-2017

As Tusk's retweet pointed out, here's a Berlin-based interview in the context of her upcoming concert next Thursday:
https://www.indieberlin.de/en/music/haley-reinhart-musik-frieden-25th-indieberlin-interview.html

And the tickets are sold out - VIP has been for a while, last week the regulars were still available, but not anymore!

Still seems pretty unreal to me. I would have never thought we'd get to see her just like that! And now it is happening! Back last March it was one single song she sang with PMJ in her first appearance with them in Europe, now it's the real thing! That one song was already a pure bliss experience!

I wonder if the two big-time Haley (and Casey) fan girls from the opposite (western) side of Germany whom I met up in the 1st row last time will be there again.

Cool. Looks like the venue's capacity is 400.

Our incredible drummer Ray Moore is traveling to Europe w/@HaleyReinhart as we speak! We are going to miss you, but know you're in good hands

Man, Haley's keeping a busy schedule. Hope she has time to rest her voice.

RE: POSTPONED TO SPRING 2017: EUROPEAN "Better" Tour - XAtlantic - 05-22-2017

So the Meet & Greet Info for Berlin just came through, the machine is up and running! It's 30 minutes prior to general admission (for those that bought a ticket for it).

Quote:Hope she has time to rest her voice.
I've often wondered how much she has to worry about that, I can't imagine it not being an aspect sometimes. Do all singers have to pay attention to that or just some?

RE: POSTPONED TO SPRING 2017: EUROPEAN "Better" Tour - Tusk - 05-22-2017

I don't think Haley did any singing for the video, probably lip syncing and she really hasn't performed that much this year. Of the five plus years I've traveled to see Haley, Late May will be the latest I've waited to see a show, almost half way through the year Tongue

As far as Haley's voice, at one of the private parties, I was told Haley has quite the regimen she goes through before the show, honey being one of the things she requires. It's not unusual as I've seen other PMJ singers post about having to prepare their voices before they go on.

Compared to her peers, as far as how often she taxes her vocals, Haley hasn't really had to do it for any extended of time....maybe when she toured Europe, the US & Australia with PMJ....even then, she sang maybe 5 songs per night max. Her US tour wasn't that long either, Europe's tour is only two weeks.

She really hasn't had to put that much strain on her voice, relative to her working peers....it's why you try to create as many income streams as possible, like song writing....there's no need to feel pressure to constantly perform to bring in income Cool

Many performers try not to speak a lot between shows to give their voices time to recover. And Haley pushes her voice in more ways than most performers (exhibits more flexibility). The venue in Berlin is a club and there are reviews that complain about the smoking rules not being enforced. Playing smokey clubs might adversely affect her voice in the short term.

What Haley has going for her is relative youth.

Don Henley, who lives in Dallas, was on a local radio show last week promoting his 70th birthday bash that will be held in July (guests include the Eagles' Timothy B. Schmit and Joe Walsh who will appear along with Stevie Nicks).

Here's what he had to say about his voice and touring at his age:

Quote:"It's fun for about two weeks. And then it becomes work. It all depends on how my voice is doing. It's fun and I enjoy it. I work at it. I try to keep in shape so I can do my best every night. I want the people to get their money's worth. "Sleep is the main thing. If I don't sleep, I can't sing very well. And I can't have any alcohol on the road. ... These days, alcohol does something to my vocal chords. I like red wine, I collect it. But if I drink one sip, I'm screwed for a month."

Incipit on MJBB posted this excerpt from a 2015 LA Times article about Chris Cornell:

Quote:From his earliest days in Soundgarden, Chris Cornell was identified as a vocalist of special force. Now 51, he's reconciled with the changes in his singing abilities and, in the process, found hidden benefits that escaped him in his 20s.

"As time has moved on, I have less range and less ability to easily go in and out of different registers, but I feel like I have a much better ability to emotionally connect with any song," Cornell says. "All that is a moving target. The human voice is not a trumpet. It's not a piano. It's always changing, and a singer has to go with the flow."

That is one of the few times I sensed vocal fatigue in Haley, the third night of a 3 day set at the Chandelier Lounge at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. She still sounded great, just not as 'effortless' You could tell the constant smoke in the Casino was taking it's toll.... heck I didn't sing one note, yet my throat was sore on the third night as well, and I'm not a smoker Tongue

Nice, glad you have some details now. Hopefully the info for Friday won't take much longer either!

Does the info also cover the sound check and stuff?

RE: POSTPONED TO SPRING 2017: EUROPEAN "Better" Tour - Tusk - 05-22-2017

Just learned from Harry that the meet and greet time for Paris is 5:30, two hours before doors open to general audience Tongue

It's printed on his ticket, I'm on my phone, ready to board, so can't post the image with the meet and greet time on his ticket .

Half hour is pretty close to show time when she does mic check and meets everyone...two hours before seems more right, but I don't know...

RE: POSTPONED TO SPRING 2017: EUROPEAN "Better" Tour - Bruce1984 - 05-22-2017

The two hours would sound more plausible to me as well, since the 'VIP perks' for the concert in Amsterdam also mention early access and soundcheck 'party', whatever the latter may be haha Tongue
Here's the what the list for VIP perks are for this concert:
Quote:Een VIP ticket bestaat uit:
- Vroege entree + Sound Check Feest
- Meet & Greet Foto
- De kans om als eerste merchandise artikelen te kopen
- Handtekening mogelijkheid (bij aanschaf van een CD)
- Een kaartje voor het concert
Basically:
- Early entrance + soundcheck party(?)
- Meet & Greet photo
- Opportunity to be the first to buy merchandise
- Signing of said merchandise (mentions purchase of a CD, but I would guess it would go for any kind of merchandise? Maybe a shirt or something?)
- Ticket

I think 30 minutes would be a bit short as well; for early entrance, soundcheck party and the meet & greet? Assuming there will be like a dozen VIP ticket holders.
