Atlantic City, NJ -- July 22 & 23, 2016 -- w/ Dave Damiani & The No Vacancy Orchestra - Miguel - 06-05-2016 Quote:July 22 & 23 http://intraweb.stockton.edu/eyos/page.cfm?siteID=256&pageID=1 Quote:Party like its 1950 as we recreate the stylings of the famed 500 Club for five weekends in July. Sophie pointed me to the listing on Dave's site. It indicates the show is in Atlantic City. Quote:FIVE AT THE FIVE - 500 CLUB RETURNS TO ATLANTIC CITY - W/ Haley Reinhart http://www.davedamiani.com/[/quote] RE: July 22 & 23rd in Atlantic City, NJ with Dave Damiani & The No Vacancy Orc... - john - 06-05-2016 Dante Hall Theater ![]() ![]() Quote: Located in the heart of the historic “Ducktown” neighborhood of Atlantic City, Dante Hall Theater was originally built in 1926 by St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Dante Hall Theater served the predominantly Italian-American community of the neighborhood as a church hall, school gymnasium, and community theater where both school plays and the St. Michael’s Opera Company staged performances. When St. Michael’s closed its parish school in the late 1980s, the building remained dormant until an eighteen-month, $3.5 million renovation, funded solely by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, was completed in October of 2003. Renamed “Dante Hall Theater of the Arts,” this beautifully restored and intimate performance space reopened with the promise of renewing the tradition of serving the Atlantic City and surrounding communities as a home for the performing arts. In 2011, Stockton University took control of the theater. By providing quality programming and performances to local communities, Stockton University and Dante Hall Theater aim to strengthen New Jersey’s efforts of restoring Atlantic City to a cultural and family destination. RE: July 22 & 23rd in Atlantic City, NJ with Dave Damiani & The No Vacancy Orchestra - Miguel - 06-05-2016 Press from last year: Quote:South Jersey native Dave Damiani has made a pretty big name for himself on the Los Angeles music scene. But he says nothing beats coming home to New Jersey to play his favorite genres of swing and jazz here in Atlantic City. http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/eedition/news/throwback-to-the-old-club-comes-to-atlantic-city-s/article_5757919f-2658-524c-9d22-4788533ee341.html RE: July 22 & 23rd in Atlantic City, NJ with Dave Damiani & The No Vacancy Orc... - john - 06-05-2016 Quote:July 22 & 23 This should right in Haley's wheelhouse (one of them). Amy Winehouse...The "Ladies of Soul" is a European music group and also the title of a book about Denise LaSalle, Ruby Johnson, Carla Thomas, Bettye LaVette, Barbara Mason, Maxine Brown, and Timi Yuro. Singers who never made it big but are noteworthy. On the other hand, it might simple refer to singers such as Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday and such (although it's in caps). RE: July 22 & 23rd in Atlantic City, NJ with Dave Damiani & The No Vacancy Orchestra - Miguel - 06-06-2016 I suspect the set will overlap much of what Haley performed with them before. A review of a different event last year that featured Maiya Sykes noted: Quote:Sykes brought a classic tone to her numbers and the orchestra. On numbers like Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good,” and Sharon Jones’ “100 Days, 100 Nights,” the group matched Sykes’ classic, revenge-ballad approach with anchoring riffs by the baritone sax, a tight contrast with the other horns. “Bye Bye Blackbird” was, tonally, closer to Aretha Franklin than Ella Fitzgerald, but it featured one of the more adventurous arrangements of the night. She's performing w/ Damiani on the 21st as well...are more dates going to show up? ![]() RE: July 22 & 23rd in Atlantic City, NJ with Dave Damiani & The No Vacancy Orc... - iluvak9 - 06-18-2016 (06-14-2016, 12:25 PM)Tusk Wrote: Hmmm... seems Haley is on a "mini tour" of the east coast... I just picked up tickets for a table of four seats on July 21st right up against the stage, which means my wife and I will get to watch her perform live on June 21st (Hamilton in DC) and again on July 21 (Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club in Maryland). This Bethesda event could be quite a show for those into Haley and big band stylings. She's performed with this band in the past and they sound great together (several examples on YouTube). Supper club venue with about 300 seats, mostly in tables of 4 or 6. Anyone in the DC area should check out the July 21st event for tickets: http://www.instantseats.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.event&eventid=B8D6A1A3-9F9A-F14B-FEAA93BDAC889BEA RE: July 22 & 23rd in Atlantic City, NJ with Dave Damiani & The No Vacancy Orc... - popfly38 - 06-23-2016 After coming out of the Halien closet and taking my wife, a Lauren fan from Season 11, to the Hamilton to see Haley (she loved her!!) I decided to push the envelope and get tickets to the July 21 show with Dave Damiani. In researching the event I found a link to Damiani's entertainment booking website: http://www.novacancyentertainment.com/ which lists Haley as one of the available artists for bookings. Is this a formal arrangement? Did someone already post about this? I may need to ask my wife to marry me again just so we can book Haley for our 'wedding'. On second thought I'm not sure my wife would say yes this time. Is this a formal arrangement? The blurbs for Haley are recent. I suppose, if the price is right, anything is possible. It would make sense for Haley since they can provide the musicians, and they probably allow her the leeway to only pursue opportunities she likes.
