Avalon Young - mercfan3 - 02-19-2017
So I've been meaning to make this thread for a while. And I figure with an independent album, tour and new music on the way, (and some extra time) now would be as good of a time as any.
I thought Avalon was one of the most contemporary artists that American Idol (or The Voice, honestly) has had. She very much knew her artistic identity, had charisma and that "authenticity" that is important with today's singers...and the music she sang/sings is what is popular music.
She was definitely more of a performer on Idol, but prior to being on the show, she showed herself to be more like Tori Kelly..just a girl with her guitar.
Her best Idol performance, IMO, was "Earned It." She just oozes cool and charisma in it.
And here are a few originals..
She's got two EP's, (Redline and Drowning In You) pre Idol, an album (Shift) and a few singles/collaborations (What's Real, If I Had A Heart, and To Me) post Idol.

She says she's working on her next single and video to be released soon, and her "soon" is typically a lot sooner than Haley.
I'm not quite sure what sort of direction she wants to head in business wise, whether it is with a label or independent music (as is becoming increasingly more popular in the R&B/hip hop genre..perhaps more than any others. )
I think there were a few Avalon fans on here when she was on Idol, so here's an update if you were..

Thank you for posting about her! Loved her on Idol. She definitely has potential and is one of the more unique singers to come off the show.

Avalon came out with a new music video for her song "Selfish." She's actually a really really strong contemporary R&B writer. I think she might have signed to a publishing company like Ole (I'm suspicious that she has, actually.)
