Haley nearly a country music recording artist? - Miguel - 11-26-2011
Haley's cousin, Jenna, does a "Fun Fact Friday" bit on Twitter wherein she tweets something about Haley on Fridays that may not be common knowledge. Last week we learned Haley used to painstakingly paint designs on her fingernails.
This week's fact is more newsworthy, I think:

That was likely sometime in 2006, when Haley would have been 15-16 years old.

Can't deny Taylor was a great signing on their part, although signing Taylor and Haley would have been monumental.

If I remember correctly, which is not by all means guaranteed, Taylor was the first artist signed by that new record label. I believe that Taylor was initially signed as a song writer by a major record label, but due to some sort of brouhaha she eventually left. Then subsequently she was discovered singing a gig at a local lounge famous for other new artists being discovered at that same spot by her new record label. Only she didn't find out I believe until later that she was the first artists signed by that new record label. I don't remember where I got this info. It must have been from sort of documentary or something I must have watched some time ago.

That link up above gives a pretty good account. She was signed previously by another label but they wouldn't let her do her own material.

What Borchetta was planning was a new record label and he wanted Taylor Swift to be a part of that – an independent label that would take on the major Nashville Music Row companies. That sounded perfect to Taylor who seemed to like long odds and shaking things up.

I think it was in 2003, 8 years ago, as I heard her talking in an interview somewhere, but I can't remember where, about spending some time in Nashville with her dad when she was 13 years old. She even mentioned singing a couple of songs in some bars during the day in that interview.
