What It's Like to Get Bussed - Miguel - 05-04-2012
In 2007, Architecture students at the University of Texas began holding foam sword fights to mark the last day of classes and blow off stress before finals. They have these battles in the middle of the main road by the campus, when the light changes. Some wear costumes and masks that might obscure their vision somewhat. What could possibly go wrong?
Earlier today:
The guy who was struck posted on FB afterwards: Quote:"I guess I can cross getting hit by a bus offa my bucket list. For real though, im in the hospital."
then an hour later,
Quote:"Im ok and riding back to campus on a Bus... no, really."

Miguel, thank you for the update! This sounds a bit more like it. That hit he took made me gasp! (I don't often gasp, but the sight and sound of the impact was horrible!!)
He's probably lucky to be alive, much less think about "not going to the Undie Run." I hope he makes a full recovery, but I would suspect that he will be less impetuous in the future (which may or may not be a good thing).

I think the sound of the impact is from his head cracking the windshield. It seems he wasn't more seriously hurt because he managed to keep his head off the pavement when he was thrown to the ground.
The bus driver, who has 21 years on the job, was cited for running a red light. This incident could lead to the end of his career.
I thought the bus came to a halt in an impressively short distance.

You're right -- the bus did stop quickly. That poor driver -- he must be experiencing all sorts of second guessing. I hope the guy who was hit will make a complete recovery. That was quite a smack!

Talk about lucky. That is one lucky guy. Had that bus not stopped so quickly, it wouldn't have been pretty.

There's a metaphor is all of this. Haley is the bus. Her fans are represented by the guy getting hit by the bus. As fans, we all have heard this angelic voice and for a moment stumble about without thinking clearly, stepping right in front of the bus. Haley in all her musical ability is able to stop the bus in time so that no one is seriously hurt. Later, we wonder, what hit me? Other fans remind us how it happened, we all have a new appreciation for the talent of the bus driver.
It's a very Haley centric world
