Thanks for sharing your love of guitar, Midnight. From my perspective, there's really no way to compare who was better between SRV and Hendrix. They were both prodigies who come around once-in-a-lifetime...if not not many lifetimes. Hendrix was more experimental in a psychedelic era, while SRV cranked out a somewhat more structured blues riff sound. If Hendrix was to blues/rock as Miles Davis was to jazz, SRV was the Coltrane.

No, Miles Davis was the psychedelic, jazz-fusion experimentalist... like Hendrix was to blues. Coltrane was also a bit avant-garde, but was overall more structured and traditional in his approach to jazz...much like SRV to blues.

I saw this guy in the vid below at a small club in Visalia California a few years ago. Loved his style (for about 45 minutes, but then I got bored, wasted, and... nevermind!).

Anyways, I figure there must be a reason this video has almost 45 million views and damn-near ¼ of a million likes; Which also means you've probably already seen it, but here ya go nevertheless:

The original "mature, empowering breakup song" about wanting to be "Free" lol. One of my alltime favorite videos...summertime, the huge crowd going absolutely berserk, the grand piano, the sunshine, the silhouette of slow dancing on stage, the perfect instrumentation and vocals all coming together tightly, it just takes me straight back to sweet, feel-good memories of being a kid.

The Guy jamming is playing Gibson ES 339 ITS like a newer version of the 335 Listen to the amp. Just a little bit of dirt and some sustain. Thats keeping it simple.

Simple works, and love the interplay between Ronnie Van Zant on vocals and Alan Collins on guitar. A bit of a heavy heart watching this knowing it was one of their final performances together before that tragic plane crash.
