Wrong.

From the NYT review of Scotty and Lauren's ablums:

This choice, though, means that the energy of this album sometimes outpaces (Scotty), who’s best when he’s deliberate, and whose voice isn’t as robust as it could be on these songs.

That’s less of a problem for Ms. Alaina on “Wildflower.” She’s a more powerful singer than Mr. McCreery; there’s nothing on his album like the vocal bombast of her single, “Like My Mother Does.” And even though she’s now been honed down to a country singer, Ms. Alaina was the most versatile performer on this season of “Idol,” and the most evocative.

I recall seeing a clip of Lauren singing "Blue" at the Grand Old Opry on YouTube shortly after AI ended. Unfortunately the clip was taken down quickly. It was a weak effort and it made me think about her praise of Haley during the season, and comments that she listened to Haley's songs on iTunes all the time. I'd bet Lauren had done the song many times in her life and been praised for it. But then she gets on Idol and hears Haley -- not a country singer -- do Blue so perfectly. Ouch.

I came across this yesterday on EW.com's PopWatch:

Considering the many missteps both Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart have taken throughout the season (see: Casey’s off-putting “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Haley’s wobbly “Blue“), it was quite a delight to see the contestants duet to the jazzy “Moanin’” during last night’s results show.
