RE: Sundays in LA - Brenna Whitaker
(08-29-2012, 06:00 AM)My Alter Ego Wrote: As others have pointed out above, this WAS an impromptu performance and she can't possibly be expected to know the lyrics to every song ever written.
That said, this song is a risky one to take on without a rehearsal -- it's far too well known, and has a lot of "moving" parts to it (who's going to sing the title line, how to get the audience engaged, etc.).
Yes and it was risky because of the occasion as well - It was an MJ tribute night and that is one of the Jackson 5's most memorable songs so you really dont wanna mess that song up.
But like I said, it wasnt that bad and even TMZ said she still sounded nice so onwards and upwards. Lets hope she learns from it and move on.

RE: Sundays in LA - Brenna Whitaker
Ummm. I agree with Asian dude. That was bad for Haley. These things that go down at the W are sure supposed to echo club "impromtu" or "pickup" performances that used to happen back in the era of the brat pack. The people who are invited to participate are the type of entertainers that have the ability to perform live. If you aren't one of those you need to know it and decline if you are not prepared (and they do prepare).
People are emotional about MJ (I don't worship people, so I couldn't give a rat's ass) but knowing that she is needing to show herself as reliable on the stage at this point in her career (looking for gigs... opening for others) she needs to be a little rattled by this and do a little regroup with herself.
Remember, industry people don't think she's cute if she screws up and makes someone's show look "less". She's stepping into things where real musicians hang. Those days of being the little kid that is excused for this kind of thing for any reason are gone. Truthfully? If I was putting a show together and I was aware of a history of "less than" performances, I'd go with another performer that I knew I could rely on - which there is no shortage of - that is how it is for all of us at work every day. She's only now learning this stuff, I guess.
Sure hope she figures things out for herself. Really too bad there was video.

OMG! The shame and horror of it all! Puhleeze, this is what all the f-ing ruckus is about?? Silly wabbits, trix is for kids. She did great under the circumstances and I'm sorry I didn't hear any booing, just some jerk yelling like it was the end of the world. Much ado about nothing

RE: Sundays in LA - Brenna Whitaker
I agree, it's no big deal. I'm sure the people at the club didn't think it was. The heckler, was more teasing, than making fun, and she was having fun with him, laughing, and saying "give me a sec." The regulars know her (Alex Quinn and Brenna Whitaker) and they always praise other performances she has done there and are always supportive of her. People are saying she should apologize or that she was disrespectful to other performers, but this whole thing is being blown way out of proportion. She was at a bar. She was having fun. It looks like Brenna physically pulled her up there and she just went along with it. I don't think she thought too much about it that night and I don't think the people there did either. Sadly, in this day and age, people have cameras, and instead of posting the good, they post the bad ( and this really wasn't that bad).
It was jazz/impromptu night. She had fun. Her voice sounded great. Let's enjoy that she enjoys these things

Yes, she did mess up, so has Casey, so has James so has Stefano etc... and yes this was impromptu....it happens (Christina Aguilera embarrassed herself big time on the NA AT THE SUPERBOWL ....
and you don't see a shortage of work for her....)
BTW Sista, or nowitsfound, it would be nice if you posted something complimentary sometimes....sure we shouldn't accept sloppiness, but this was impromptu and not the Grammy's
Between here an IDF, your posts about her are getting old....a 'fan' sometimes is allowed to say nice things and quit posting about how unprofessional she is or how her fans need to grow up, and how she needs to get a more professional band, and how you hate the people who use twitter.... and we should listen to you as you are a professional in the industry....
On two sites to constantly post these kinds of posts...it gets old...seriously...
I understand your point is as the professional in the industry she wants to be, she needs to tighten things up...but my god man... post some nice things once in a while... . as a fan....you do have some nice things to say right? Lighten up, enjoy the ride...with Haley there are waaaay more positives than negatives...

Oh, Tusk now I do remember you. Again, you are off on another trip. Really don't want to party with you. I searched that name, and if that is a band or something, I guess I need a link from you. But really, do I want to go on a goose chase today? Nope.
Look, I just don't know about you (not too interested, you do understand, right?) You seem a little too involved in other posters when they don't want much involvement with you.
Just think you are one confused person. One thing though, I hope you are not gonna delete every last one of your posts like you did the other day...

Alex Quinn (AlexquinnLA) defending her. He is the organizer of the event.
@TMZ - @HaleyReinhart came as a guest & was asked to sing. She gave a gutsy impromptu performance & received a standing ovation #thetruth
