RE: "Undone" discussion - split from interview thread
^^Miguel, I'm not certain that it's the Idol tour band (although that would make sense), but I do think they are musicians connected with the AI machine. I think, although am not positive because there isn't enough of a straight on shot of him, that the person you remember/
recognize is Michael Orland, the AI music director(?) (or one of them).
Tom22, both you and Dr. J have made some comments that have made me rethink my position regarding why Haley seems to want to distance herself from this song. John suggested that she doesn't want to be "defined" by this song and you mentioned the "diva" element. When the label "diva" is attached to someone, they seem to get "boxed in" in terms of what the diva's "adoring" public will accept from them. And the last thing Haley wants is to be limited artistically.

RE: "Undone" discussion - split from interview thread
She takes a great song and makes it even better in this live version. She controls the power notes better than she did on the album. I also agree the band did a good job.

I rose the question if the higher notes would be a strain to sing live ... not in the least from this performance a week or two ago.
I think it's better than the album even ..
i'm impressed with the band here..
i guess they were just pro musicians sitting in for the event?
any opinions on that?.. amazing what a super pro can pickup quickly if so.
Less is more sometimes,
but they did know where to give.
they really helped at the climax..
listen to the pregnant pause the keyboardest pulls at 3:00 to 3:01 ...that latent holding back of the chord emphasizes the suspense .... mimicing the lenght of a human breath taken before making an important point.
the drummer just holds back and only gives to assist the build to the climax barely touch the symbol.. a bit more a phrase later then the warm of the sustained brush at 3:25 ish
I'd have nice things to say about the bass and the guitar to in their discretion but artistry focused on complementing Haley when they came in.

RE: Umm, "Undone..."
Umm, Undone, has too much angst in the lyrics for me to like it alot. Haley does sing it well but I would prefer Spiderweb be the song that makes her a star. Halloween is on the horizon so it could get some momentum in October...so much talent, so many great songs, the possiblities for success seem almost a given...

Spiderweb would be a fun song to hear around Halloween on the radio. I think any of Haley's songs could be a hit, if promoted and marketed right! They are all so good!
