RE: Haley Reinhart - International Success
The UK is not listed. There might be lower awareness of Haley there because they don't broadcast American Idol.
I've noticed on Twitter that there appears to be many people in South Africa who recently became aware of Haley. I found this Facebook post from October 2:
Quote:Pierre En Jean Dafel
Hi i am from South Africa ..Lollll and we only getting to see this amazing singer now
WOW! we just love Haley...love her attitude how she works that stage, her voice, :-) her 'piss off' if you don't like me smile....sweetie-pie you stunning and we wish you well and hope you go far with your singing you deserved to win although we liked one or two of Scotties songs he wasn't that good a bit boring and Lauren should never have been in the top six...:-) when a fan of Lauren held a board up saying 'work it Lauren' my sons and daughter in-laws were shouting 'Haley you don't have to worry girl you were born with it' ....so good luck and God Bless you in everything you do...you a one Beautiful, Talented, Sexy singer...always respect your parents and stay on the right path...

They do broadcast American Idol here in the UK, on ITV2, usually a week or so after it's aired in the US.
Unfortunately, it is seen as kinda cheesy and not very credible, but some previous Idol stars are very well known and successful over here like Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson.
But I don't think there is much awareness of Haley at all over here, I don't know anyone else who knows who she is unless I've told them about her!
I think she should be promoted over here, because the retro/soul/blues vibe is always so popular and she's so natural, we love that kinda thing!

RE: Haley Reinhart - International Success
Thanks for that info. I had searched the Internet for a UK air date and all I found was mention that AI was a spin off from the defunct Pop Idol. I knew from Twitter that many people in the UK were unfamiliar with Haley, so I assumed AI didn't air there.
It will be on Channel 5 next year.
Quote:Channel 5 has bagged the new series of American Idol, the Simon Fuller talent show that previously aired in the UK on ITV2.
...American Idol, the global spin-off of Pop Idol, which aired on ITV1 between 2001 and 2003, has been on ITV2 since the show began in 2002 and was one of the channel's earliest ratings bankers.
The most recent series launched on ITV2 in January this year with an audience of 350,000 viewers.
...This year's 11th series final was watched by 20.7 million viewers in the US.
350K out of a population of 62,641,000.

Oh no, that won't do any good. When tv programs get moved to Channel 5, you know they're going downhill! Shame really.
I think singing reality shows are wearing a bit thin over here, they've been happening here for about 12 years now and people are getting a bit bored. The X Factor has loads of pointless drama and publicity stunts just to keep people watching now.
I think it's probably a good thing that Idol's not that popular over here because Haley can build up a fan base that don't associate her with Idol.
It'll take longer but she'll have more respect and credibility in the long run

It's a life saver for me, with my newly reacquanted relatives in Vietnam and France...most of them know English, but I have minimal comprehension of French, and even less of Vietnamese.
(I gotta really try picking up my French, going to France in March for a Cousin's wedding )
