Also, (assuming Haley isn't signed at the moment) she was signed to a major (as opposed to indie) label until recently & is probably better known than at least 1/2 of the artists who're currently signed to one label or another. Plus she has a publishing deal w/ ole, is managed by 19M, has worked w/ these writers on her first album, & has had about the same amount of media exposure as a fairly successful group like Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, (because counting AI, Hales has been on TV alot the past couple of years).
So I guess my point is that even though Haley hasn't broken through w/ a big single or gold album yet, she is far from an unknown.

True. Allen Stone is getting great press and some television exposure recently. Yet he only has about 25K followers on Twitter. The photographer who took the nice shots of Haley in Boston first published an album featuring him. He also published photos of other performers recently. He has tweeted about them but Allen's fans and those other artists did not retweet the links. Tonight, after he put up additional photos of Haley, he tweeted about it. He received 7 retweets.
Haley is close to breaking through. She just needs recognition outside of Idol in a slightly more mature demographic.
April 2011: Quote:The most successful recording artist right now isn't Lady Gaga, Katy Perry or Justin Bieber. It's Adele, a twenty-two year-old British pop star with a deep bluesy voice. Her appeal stretches from teenagers to baby boomers, who find her soulful sound classic and timeless. And that wide demographic appeal is translating into huge chart-topping numbers.

That's what I first thought when I read:
Quote:This time, I'm looking forward to just laying back a little more and spending more time with each producer that I have a relationship with.
But I later thought this could simply mean she wants to spend more time with whatever producers she ends up working with this time (not necessarily the ones she knew before). In the past, she has stated she wanted to continue to work with Rob and (hopefully) bring him with her as she rose to the top. So it's not a surprise she's working with him again. We'll have to wait and see if she works with any other producers that she had a prior relationship with.

I agree. Even though Haley was opening for Allen Stone and he's more established in some ways (mainly touring w/ a full band), Haley is the bigger name. Although I will say that Idol contestants have disproportionately large twitter followings because the show is so popular w/ young people. The Black Keys only have 50% to 70% more followers on Twitter than Haley & they have 2 multi-platinum albums.
What I think needs to happen for Haley 2nd effort to be successful is this. First she needs to take as much time is needed to come out w/ a sophomore album that's as good or better than "Listen Up". I think she's already made the right decision as far as the direction she's taking w/ it.
Then the label she signs w/ needs to bring her along the way they would any other new artist. There were steps missed by Interscope, (probably because they know a good portion of their audience have short attention spans so timing is hyper important) mainly touring w/ her full band. The first idk 100-250k in record sales are going to cover the costs of producing & promoting the record and covering any advance given. The new artist & their band support themselves primarily by touring. And Haley & her band will develop into a finely tuned machine as a result.
Anyway this is getting long so I'll just say Haley & the band should be touring fairly consistently, interspersed w/ media appearances, for probably 12-18 months, w/ a new single released to radio every 4 months, plus ole doing their thing getting Haley's songs played on TV shows, included in movies etc.,
