Haley Reinhart is one of the few Idol contestants who seemed utterly bland during her initial weeks on the show, gurgling through overplayed schlock like Alicia Keys' "Fallin'" and LeAnn Rimes' "Blue," before becoming a righteous vixen who slayed with unusual selections like "Rolling in the Deep" (a very new song at the time) and "Rhiannon." Her best work may be this lengthy, unexpected version of Led Zeppelin's "What Is and What Should Never Be." She's bluesy, brassy, and even after she trips in her kickass heels, a consummate performer. No Idol performance compares to this sprawling beast.

I believe if WI&WSNB closed the show on top 3 week instead of being her first song, the excitement of that song as the lines opened would have had the extra votes that would have nudged Lauren Alaina out of the second spot. Oh Well...thats what is and what shall never be.

I like her too, Reinharted, but it would be too bad if she doesn't even go on to the live shows. For me, that would end the show before it even begins. I'd hate to lock on to someone and not have them continue on for a while.

If you want someone to latch onto and enjoy the Season 12 ride, try Angie (not Haley's sister) Miller (Patti's maiden name). She seems to be the producer's designated chosen one...and she's damn good and good lookin' and she says Haley Reinhart is one of her favorites.

Maddie seems like a sweet girl with bubbly energy. That being said, little notice before the audition aside, she had alot of 'rough edges' during her audition but the talent is there.

If she doesn't make it this go round, she's on the Halien and AI radar, I could see her being motivated to smooth out her delivery and come back a stronger contestant next go round. If she does enough, maybe being a producer favorite

After Haley's exit performance I said to myself WOW that was a great Idol season.

I wasn't mad or dissapointed . I figured more teeny-boppers would vote for Scotty anyway and he wasn't half bad at all at his Genre, which probably has a larger chunk of the Idol voter audience as well.

Someone asked me a month later "Were you happy with how idol turned out this year " and I gave an enthusiastic YES . They asked if I liked Scotty that much and I was like

"OH.. i forgot, that he won.. I meant Haley Reinhart. I didn't watch the last week's performances and just watch the finally show with all the stars on it ... I probably fast forwarded through the formal announcement that Scotty won because it was a forgone conclusion by then. "

True story. It was a great great season and I could care less who wins at the final popularity stage of the contest.

Same for me, Tom. I was perfectly happy with the way season 10 went. I also considered Haley's final night the end of the season and felt it was the perfect ending to an enjoyable season.

Throughout the season I set up small goals for Haley to meet. First it was just for her to last long enough for me to get as many singles downloaded as possible. Then I wanted her to make top 10 so she could go on tour. Then I wanted her to beat Siobhan Magnus' ranking. From there the rest was just gravy. I wasn't even too fired up about her not winning the show because then I thought she would be to tied up with the Idol machine to do what she would want to do.

Jesaiah Bair - This 16-year-old quirky girl's performance of Kimbra's "Settle Down" (cool song choice!) was interrupted when the fire alarm went off and everyone had to temporarily evacuate the premises--but I suspect Jesaiah was the one who really set off the smoke detector, because her audition was so hot. Yes, at first her whole shtick, with her Halloween-costume captain's hat, annoyed me (the Long Beach auditions were held on famous ship the Queen Mary, and she was trying to be clever, I guess). But when she sang, it was pure bliss. She could have been wearing a pirate outfit and I would not have cared. (Actually, if she'd dressed like a pirate, that would have been awesome. But I digress.) Jesaiah had this smoky, sexy, slightly growly tone mixed with the jazzy, scatting style--it was like a Haley Reinhart/Casey Abrams duet, contained in one single body! "I loved it within seconds of you starting," said Keith. "You are really, really talent for 16," said Randy. "You have very mature confidence; it was very shocking for me. Kudos," said Mariah. I think Jesaiah should leave the nautical-wear at home, but I'm excited to see her in Hollywood.

^ In her "Road to Hollywood" video, Jesaiah said her favorite Idol was Adam Lambert. I clicked on six other contestants' videos (not from tonight's show). Four of them also cited Adam, one mentioned Carrie Underwood and one Jessica Sanchez. So, uh, congrats to Adam.
