"Oh My" and Felix Hernandez

OK...this is a long shot...but what the hell why not?

Many of you know that I'm a Seattle Mariner's fan and was lucky last year to have withnessed only the 23rd Perfect Game in Major League History. The Pitcher who pitched the Perfect Game is the Mariner's superstar, Felix Hernandez, also known as "King Felix"

He's only 26, won a Cy Young with a losing record and one of the best Pitchers in baseball, maybe top 5, if not top 3...some might say he's the best (Verlander might be an exception)

Today the Mariner's just signed him to an extension making him the richest Pitcher of the Major Leagues. 7 years @ $175 Million.


Also, the long time, recently departed 'Voice of the Mariners", David Niehaus had a call whenever a great play happened....."My Oh My".... He was a beloved figure in Seattle sports

are you getting where I'm going with this?

I just sent an email to a popular sports talk personality to ask how I could get in contact with someone to listen to "Oh My" and use it in a commercial or publicity for Felix....

I'm a fan of an American Idol artist, Haley Reinhart, who has a song called "Oh My" which, as you know is similar to Niehaus' call. I would love to see if the Mariner's could use it in a commercial for Felix Hernandez. It's kind of a sultry, James Bond kind of feel to it.

Can you tell who I might be able to contact so I could suggest it to the Mariners for use? I'd like to make a video to post, but I don't know the 'rights' laws of mlb footage use.

The song is "Oh My" on Haley Reinhart's album "Listen Up!".

I think it's perfect for Felix, and that the title is similar to Niehaus' call, it's a no brainer. Any info on how to get it to the Mariners is appreciated. Thnx

I guess I should have thought of this earlier and gone right to the source (hopefully). This weekend, I've been invited by a friend to a suite at Safeco, to watch the Mariners. It will also be the Felix Hernandez "Perfect game" Bobble Head night



I went to their website and noticed they had a suggestions for promotions link, so I filled in my info including my number and sent them this

Hello. I was lucky enough to be in attendance in the All Star Club the day of Felix's perfect game. I also was invited to a suite this Saturday for Felix PG Bobblehead.

Ever since that day, I've been thinking about making a video with music from an artist I follow, who was on American Idol, Haley Reinhart. She released an album last year, "Listen Up!". The song I want to use is the first one on the album. It's called "Oh My"....of course you see the connection between the title and the famous call of Dave Niehaus....
My question is, I'd like to edit a video of Felix with that song, and I know that there are probably MLB rights issues. Nevertheless, I figured I would ask you if there were anyway I could do it and submit it to you. If not, I would ask that you at least watch or listen to the song and see that it does fit with Felix perfectly, with the Niehaus call of "Oh My" spliced in between the music as Felix strikes someone out or pumps his fist.

Her name is Haley Reinhart, the song is "Oh My" (even has a rap bridge with B.o.B in it) from the album "Listen Up".

It's such a no brainer idea for a promo for Felix and a great fitting song, I thought I'd throw it out there. Please feel free to call me if you're interested

It's my hope that they see I'm a Mariner's Fan, that I buy suite tickets and I was at the Perfect game, and politely asking them to listen to "Oh My" (I know there's no way they let me make the video with rights issues). The point is to hopefully have them say "why not?" and listen to the song. The rest will be up to the song whether it convinces them or not. I think in this case, the rap will be a bonus, because it makes it hip and relevant.

That Felix Perfect Game was 4 month's after another perfect game in the same ballpark by the White Sox Philip Humber. Phil went downhill after that and the White Sox let him walk after the season. He was picked up by the lowly Houston Astros and started the season 0-8 with a 9.59 ERA and got the boot off their last place team. Phil is now sitting at Home Listening Up to hear Philip Phillips sing "Home". I wonder if P2 will have a similar downfall where he is on the top of the world selling 4 million "Home" singles than floundering in obscrurity.
