RE: Haley and Casey at House of Blues in West Hollywood on 2-15-13
I want to express my tremendous gratitude to all the Haliens who brought this priceless performance by Casey and Haley to us. Yanni, thank you so much for recording the show. I love the audio, a great addition. Casey and Haley complement each other so well. They truly are two musical peas in a pod.
Haley always sings with such raw emotion and passion and interpretation, but she really nailed it last night. She seemed to take it to another level which was already extremely high. Maybe it’s just the fact that I’m listening to the audio. I didn’t think “Oh My!” could get any better, but Haley changed it up again and did make it better. Though I still like her revised bridge more.
There are many reasons Haley is my favorite artist and one is her appreciation for the old standards. Their version of “L-O-V-E” incorporating the scatting is the best I’ve heard along with Natalie Cole’s.
I can’t wait to see / hear what’s next.

(BTW.... Jack Black makes movies/music/albums too.... Maybe this will be the Caley route to the Big Screen. Casey's and Haley's music/personality has got that 'cheeky' in it that Black can appreciate.... )
These audio's are awesome, maybe Iconic, Yanni. I love the harmonies and scatting throughout this (especially on LOVE and HTRJ) and perhaps the best version of "All My Lovin'" they've done (where Casey remembers the words and it isn't cut off)...
Also, there is something about not having the video let's you hone in on the singing and playfullness between the two
Really great thnx for being there to record and to post
(and to Rachel...without our Haliens in LA and spots across the US who bring Haley to us...where would we be? )
Yanni, late to the party here, but thank you for this fine audio recording. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Miguel, Casey's a superb musician with a fine ear; he might not have to do much "preparing," with the exception of learning lyrics (nod to Tusk and AML). Casey's musical "weakness" (??) is his voice -- and given that he still sounds better than probably 98% of the population, means it's not much of a weakness --he did a good job in this show.
L.O.V.E. might ultimately become his signature song -- and the harmony he sang in this performance was amazing! Loved the two them singing it together and the way they use the other's creativity to "up" their own game. HTRJ was also better here than the recording on Casey's album. As you mentioned, Tusk, the playfulness and harmonies were insanely good!
It would be nice if the two of them could make a trip back to NOLA and visit Mayfield's joint again. I bet he'd be delighted to invite them up to perform, and he wouldn't be skeptical this time!
