First off...that tweet was made by someone trying to help the Marine in question ( Steven_Presto‏@PRESTO_Magic_ ) catch Haleys attention. I think the "do you" part can be and was taken the wrong way (probably not how it was intended)

Also, I think that I read on one of his other tweets that it might be for March. He's getting a bit of a late start in my opinion, but hey, anything can happen. Personally, I think he has great taste and great aspirations. Plus he wasn't afraid to answer questions and gave good answers!

Yeah, SIYT I'm not sayin' this guys a bad guy or his friend is. But his friend who's trying to help him should realize that he's not. Cause if Haley sees that tweet, the first thing that's going to go thru her head is "What so if I don't want to go that means that I don't support the troops?" He needs to give her a choice not kind of/sort of imply that it's her duty.

I saw. But it's true. She doesn't have a label backing her that can write off the expense of the trip as marketing. A coast-to-cost trip is a big sacrifice to ask of someone you don't know.

A New Year's Eve event near their mutual hometowns would have been more reasonable as Haley would have likely been in town anyway.

I'm dumb...what is SITY? And I do agree that wording it in that way gives off the wrong impression. I just wanted to clear things up to state that it was not the Marine who made that tweet. s'all good in Haleyworld!

Still, it could be manipulated in such a way to imply that if Haley did not accept the invite, she is not 'supporting the troops'.

He may not have meant it that way, but he did say it, which IMO, decreases his chances of her responding at all....even worse if a 'Twitter army' decides to take up the phrase and trend it, turning a cute request to a dance into a "date this guy or you hate the troops" attack... which could get out of hand in Twitter land, and get ugly.

They should have just left it as a cute request to a dance by a serviceman. I could see her being intrigued and responding...Add "support the troops", and Twitter 'pressure, then it becomes less cute, more a (mob) 'obligation', suddenly not so cute

Maybe the guy is under the assumption that everybody supports the troops. So naturally if he asked her to you supports the troops her answer would be of course I do.IMO I think asking Haley to go out with somebody especially a Marine to a Marine ball on twitter . No chivalry in that but of course I'm old school.
