Any theory why Casey didn't do a song from his album on AI 12. He had several good songs to choose from.

Maybe he was going to perform Eleanor Rigby (bonus track) in keeping with the Beatles theme, but Paul Jolley did it, so they switched it out.

This was his biggest audience since Idol, so I think he was glad for the exposure even if it meant not performing an original. It apparently did it's job reminding Idol viewers who 'forgot' about him, curious enough to check out and buy his cd

Casey's Idol performance will get his album back on the Billboard Top 200 chart this week. It spent from Thurs evening to at least Sunday Midnight in the itunes top 100. I saw it as high as #40, but that was on either Friday night or Saturday afternoon so I'm sure it peaked higher than that.

Even if his CD wasn't available in stores (which I'm almost sure it is), that big of a spike on itunes is enough to get him back on the BB200. I think Casey's album has only spent 1 week in the BB200. It debuted at #104 and I THINK it fell out of the top 200 the next week. I'm not positive though. It might've stuck around 1 more week. Anyway, that's a huge deal for Casey. I'm really happy for him.

Today's charts provide the answer. Even though the Season 10 Idol finalist's version of the Beatles' I Saw Her Standing There doesn't appear on his album, just performing on the show was enough to give sales of his album a boost of nearly 2,000% over the previous week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Abrams sold more than 3,000 copies of his album last week. That accounts of 13% of the set's total sales.

I actually think it made more difference than had he sang an original. As I noted in Vegas, Haley got the biggest and most enthusiastic crowd response after her renditions of BATJ, HOTRS and "Oh Darlin'" than she did for most of her originals.

If you want to gain new fans who don't know you, it seems to make sense to introduce yourself by doing a popular/more familiar Cover well.
