Believe it or not, there is a Beatles link to this hand gesture,

On the cover of The Beatles' Yellow Submarine album (1969), the cartoon of John Lennon's right hand is making the sign above Paul McCartney's head. For many fans, this was one of the many "Paul is dead" clues. Some may think it is possible that the cartoonist misrepresented the sign for "I love you", which is very similar and more in keeping with the band's public message and image. However, the 1969 cartoon is based on many photos of John Lennon making the hand sign in 1967. One of these photos of Lennon doing the hand sign appears on the cover of a Beatles single release shortly after, making it the first time the hand sign appears on a rock release.

I'm honestly not crazy about Free at that tempo but I really enjoyed Keep Comin' Back.Notto is clearly enjoying himself and the band sounds tight.Seeing Haley grooving along with the guitar solo makes you wonder what it could all be like if they could play together regularly.And good to see that rocker chick is alive and well.

I'm honestly not crazy about Free at that tempo but I really enjoyed Keep Comin' Back.

I like the fact that Haley is willing to experiment and give her current audience something other than just what they could hear if they played the CD recorded version for the 100th time. Surprises are good like when she did the B.o.b. rap part of "Oh My" at Lollapalooza or added a cool consistant replacement verse shortly there after. This version has a whole different mood about it. The original fast version is an "I'm in control and this is the best for us" upbeat pop vibe, where the slow version is an "I'm really sad it has come to this" bluesy jazz vibe. It's like two different songs for two different genre lovers.

Yep...sent to Harry yesterday just before the Boston Marathon Bombing happened. I bet Harry can really appreciate John Notto's guitar solo and I'm sure it reminds Haley of what it's like to perform with Daddio.

Oh-don't get me wrong-I'm all for experimentation-its just for me,at least this version of Free didn't work too well.But that's what going out on the road with a band affords you-the chance to try new things-change the tempos,arrangements,open things up for solos,trading,not to mention giving Haley the chance to develope as a performer.And Keith Phelps is the type of guy who would get bored playing everything the same way all the time so he's the perfect foil for her.And I thought the guitar solo was very tasty and will probably put a smile on Harry's face.

These guys all obviously enjoy this gig and you just hope that with whatever else happens down the road that they can do this on some kind of regular basis.

Kaypea, it's unfortunate that you don't care for this song at this tempo. I think this (and the Vegas version) are far, far better than the "official" released version.

Gulp --OK -- in the past, I've sort of danced around the fact that I don't care for this song. My dislike has nothing to do with the way Haley sings it.

Given what I look for in music, musically, this not a good song. The lyrics may be wonderful (as Haley says, it's an "emotionally mature break up song"), but the melody and accompaniment -- umm -- lack a great deal, to put it as gently as I can. And, while I know that I come into this with a decidedly different musical perspective, I've got too much musical background, training, and intuitiveness to not have a reasonable idea of what "good" is (now that grunge and rap/hiphop aren't the only things heard).

So, Kaypea, when you say this version of "Free" didn't work, I can only assume that it didn't work for you. But that doesn't mean that others wouldn't like it.

I sure do Swan, that was also my all time favorite version of Free. Haley's vocals and the feeling she put into that performance were amazing, and Keith and Courtney were really feeling it as well.
