RE: Malaysia: The Bee, 18th April 2013
Quote:A popular dish based on rice in Malaysia is nasi lemak: rice steamed with coconut milk to give it a rich fragrance, and served with fried anchovies, peanuts, sliced cucumber, hard boiled eggs and a spicy chilli paste known as sambal.
They also serve this in Singapore, so Haley may have tried it before.

RE: Malaysia: The Bee, 18th April 2013
chili as in chile pepper
Quote:The chili pepper (also chile pepper or chilli pepper, from Nahuatl chīlli) is the fruit of plants from the genus Capsicum, members of the nightshade family, Solanaceae. The term in British English and in Australia, New Zealand, India, Malaysia and other Asian countries is just chilli without "pepper".
Before I moved to Dallas, I came up for a job interview. They surprised me by taking me out to lunch. I had little money and wasn't sure they were paying, so I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu -- a bowl of chili. It was actually chile con queso, a side dish of melted cheese and chili pepper. They got a laugh out of my mistake, but I got the job.

This girl sure is game with trying new and different foods! I'm sure the Asian countries love it.
I wonder if the people standing behind her in the interview were contest winners?
