RE: James Durbin: Era 2.0
OK Outcast.. I'm bumping this thread for you because I didn't want to wander farther from the voice on the voice thread.
I was explaining how much I thought The voice drummer and bass player were lacking.
Because you relate best to James Durbin.. I wanted to show you how a rythym section should sound in a sort of bluesy song.
I came across this song of Jame's . I listed to quite a few actually ... he really is a special musician.
This is an accoustic version.. without a bass or a drum .. so it's not a perfect model. I'll find others but the pure metal was harder to connect the thoughts I had to and obviously using the Idol band won't make the point to you how good their rythym section generally is. (as are their solo musicians guitars etc)
Listen to the guy playing the rhytym guitar here. I think he's a really special musician. Here he's almost playing bass on the guitar at times and well listen closely how he rolls in addition to keeping the beat (although with James keeping with what he's set on the tamberine.
James really is something too.
I really liked this below too. I wish he had remembered it all right off but the way he stopped in such a poised way, then resumed full force after the long pause and banter while it came to him, then picked right up was really remarkable.. as was the performance as it continued when it had all come to him.
