RE: Foster Festival in Okinawa, Japan on 4-13-13

Off the top of my head, Her iHeart Radio of Oh My was when the drums sounded best with Haley, not overwhelming, but kept a good sharp and distinctive rhythm/beat. Other than that, more often than not, I'm wishing the drums in her live performances were not so 'aggressive'.
Some of the audios are muffled, perhaps by accidently putting a finger or cloth over the mic. Try other vids.
That being said, I've seen much worse videos and worse audio's, I'm more than grateful we get what we've gotten so far from Okinawa.
Let's hope to see more videos from her other Asian stops
(Is it me or has she been going a more 'rock' direction in her recent performances? Maybe the full band effect makes her want to rock out more )
Like I said, I know my resposne should be GRateful..
.. i'm just pouting like a little boy.
I suspect that the drum issue is a very large part about the recording.
The iheart idol band drummer is a master no-doubt but that was also recorded professionally.. at musical broadcast quality (not studio quality of course).
I know we'e had some videos that our mighty Haley followers here have gotten really clear and others where the venue makes it hopeless for types of equipment. I imagine the ones here are just on phones so the people did a great job holding it still if you think about it.
Like I said. the sound of the piano strikes were off too (yeah i know it was a key board, not a piano but the keyboard piano setting P uses has a strike and a ring sound to the notes.
I'm thinking some sort of noise reduction system might be compressing the individual sounds to "clean them up" and ends up missing the musical nuances... more than just the mic.

That's possible. When I process my videos I try to do some adjusting to 'clean the audio' of more pronounced hissing....
The first two (and best quality recordings) performances posted from this show,
were recorded with a $3000 camera which explains it's clarity
Quote:Shot w/Canon 5D MIII w/70-200mm L series lense
This Camera
Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS with 1080p Full-HD Video Mode Digital SLR Camera (Body)
$3100
with this lens
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens
$2100
Explains the quality of his vids...you get what you pay for

"Let's Run Away" (Laroi gets a drum solo)
Hit the Ground Runnin'" (mic muffled)
hat tip to PJ
Laroi's solo was -- hmmm -- unexpected, to say the least. And then that it had a sort of unstructured "jazz" bent to a tune that's been bopping along in a quasi/pseudo reggae rhythm -- and that it all worked?
Genius!! ( This, folks, is why I love jazz -- well, it's one of the reasons I love jazz!!) Fabulous and so fun!

RE: Foster Festival in Okinawa, Japan on 4-13-13
The quality of the filming may not have been great, but it sure showed us what Haley’s tour will be like. I’m pleased Steven Hendricks captured almost the entire show which is rare unless Tusk or Himm2 is present. I don’t know what happened with “Hit The Ground Runnin”. The videos went from SD to HD at that point.
I can only imagine how tremendous the concert was in person. Some of you know already, but this performance had everything, the whole band, a big stage and a nice concert atmosphere. Haley and the band played tight and performed loose. They looked like they had a lot of fun on stage. I don’t know how they do it with having such limited time to rehearse. I don’t know if this is common for musicians with as much talent as they have especially Haley.
I appreciate that Haley likes to let her band shine and Haley really gets into it during their solos. John rocked it out more than ever and showed off how good he can rip that guitar. I loved the new covers and her slowed version of “Free”. Her musicality is so diverse with the rock, blues, soul and jazz feel. She provides something for everybody.
I didn’t know if “Oh My!” was posted yet.

Well, Midnight, I've got to respectfully disagree. I don't think he's OVERDRUMMING at all. The song isn't truly Reggae. It's, as I said "pseudo/quasi reggae" (if truly reggae, the second and fourth beats would be MUCH stronger as in "beat you over the head" [go back and listen to Bob Marley], so I found what he did truly interesting and, to me, it worked.

To much symbal in his solo IMO
Perhaps -- I'm listening through the speakers on my laptop, and thus may not be hearing what you are.
