Since I have not had cable TV for over 5 years I have to rely on live streams that suck and video snippets. After watching Angie's sing out last night I must say that I appreciate Haley's AI exit even more. Haley has the unique ability to be in the present moment and deliver performances that are subjective and relative to her surrounding environment. I guess this is one of the many reasons I follow Haley's journey so closely... Tongue

If Kree was the one going home when she was in the bottom two with Amber but both lived to see the following week because of the save not being used, then it probably would have been Amber leaving last night.

Exactly my thoughts last night in my quick DVR through the shows highlights.(with many "i've had enough of this act 20 seconds" in , and many "i think I'll skip what the judges have to say" parts).

Damn Haley is awesome ... best swan song ever.. with only one other in close to the same leagueAllison Iraheta's deffiant "F-you Simon" cover of Janice Jackson's "Cry Baby" funneling the true edge of that song at even Janice's level.

Buzz - Exactly my thoughts about Lauren -- I "detailed" my similar "impression" (wink) in another thread.

Merc - glad for you that you enjoyed the talent. I saw real promise early but by the end I really felt the perfomances were actually pretty bad for the most part - Candices were tricky to say that about but i've already explained my take. I really felt I was watching some high school amateur students with little stage presence and indulgent runs in ways Harry Connick laid out in his guest apperance.

.. but THEY are entertainers and all that matters is that they worked for some people. I'm glad it worked for you ... it's easier for me to think positively about the show knowing that.

I have to second Mercfan on putting Candice pretty high up there on any all time Idol list of singers.My tastes run more from classic R+B-Jazz-Blues-Soul than anything else so I 'm always gonna be naturally attracted to that kind of sound and she has all of those things.

But just in terms of her consistency,taste.power,control,instincts,intonation,tone,range-and all the things that go into making a standout vocalist I think she should be on any all time list and that one night she had a few weeks ago has to be pretty high up there as well.She's had moments as they say.

Really glad the Idol voters saw fit to get her into the finals.

Yea, Candice has had moments. She's had "I who Have Nothing" "Lovesong" (BTW..first song in 13 years to take down Kelly Clarkson on WNTS) and "Somewhere" all of which were pretty outstanding.

I have a hard time finding music I don't like. But when it's all said and done..my introduction to music was from non other than Mariah Carey..and although I loved pop..I always had a strong love of R&B too. (Loved Aaliyah and TLC)..

I love everything (and thanks to Idol, I've been expanded ever since. Carrie allowed me to delve into country, for instance)

Sweet C...Had the same thoughts about Haley's final sing out...she was beaten up about her shocked look when she was voted off. But "Look who's recovered" is the awesome thing about Haley. She has that ability to perform live and a capella if need be, which is another testimony to her star power.

I thought Angie would make it to the final two, so I was surprised by the outcome. However, we should know that when the country vote gets behind someone...look out.

Tom22...very interesting take on the Lauren Look. Loved the 10 year high school reunion observation and I had a flashback to the same thought process I had at the time.

The fact that Haley was beaten up about the 2 second look just shows how ridiculous people were about her. The hate was at Lambert levels from idol fans.

Well-you're doing better than I am in terms of finding music I don't like.I don't have much use for most of which passes as modern R+B-at least the type I'm hearing on top 100.So much of it has that click track/synthesized sound to it and musically I find alot of it pretty static.I thought that Alicia Keys' song on Idol the other night was pretty-well-boring actually.Funny thing-I actually hear more in the Country world that I like now more than modern R+B.And I could never say that about the music from 30 or 40 years ago.

For me, I just recognize what's quality music and what isn't.

I like Rhianna and her songs, I just know that Adele's songs are of higher quality. Tongue

I certainly prefer the more organic..sound though. But in terms of "liking" I certainly like anything that isn't just pure screaming. But I'm totally with you in not preferring this synthetic pop sound.

I really think Timberlake does a good job of mixing a more organic sound..and still making it more modern. Lyrically, he's not the deepest..but I'm okay with that. My only real issue is the 8 minute songs. I just don't have the attention span for that.
