As we are at the Final Two of American Idol this year, I am curious: the other day I read a blog about the fact that in 2011, after Haley was eliminated, Lauren Alaina was having a lot of throat problems and there was a possibility that she could not compete or perform against Scotty in the Final.

The blog noted Haley was at the Fox studio, in costume, and rehearsing songs the day of the Final. But ultimately Lauren was able to go on.

Has Haley ever confirmed or denied that story? Seems so unlikely, but who knows...

Yes that was true! I remember being on twitter that day and everyone was talking about it. Haley confirmed it saying she the producers came up to her and said she might have to do 3 songs.

Yup she confirmed it, but added she had faith in Lauren, that she would make the show..... there was a small chance Haley would have made Idol history by winning after elimnation....then again, I think Scotty's lead was pretty huge, it was basically a battle for second

yup, plus people would have been likely to vote for Scotty over Haley because it would have been perceived as "Haley shouldn't be there."

Even though I do think Haley was the second favorite (with the loudest fans) of season 10. It was just that casual fans would have voted for Lauren Top 3 night because of Haley's last song.

MJ (over on MJ's live blog) just said Candice was singing the "snot" out of her coronation song (despite the song not being that great - surprise).

I didn't know songs had "snot" in them.

I really enjoyed the final.It seemed that this year it was more about actually singing than the last two years-at least as far as the final was concerned.Its an interesting contrast in styles-they're both "soul" singers in a sense but coming at in from two completely different directions. I was more impressed with Kree tonight than for most of the season.I liked her first song- why does everything have to be belted out-Randy?

I honestly wasn't that impressed with either potential single-not the performances themselves but the songs -and I hope that's not the direction that Candice will be going-its too "pop" for her.

I was surprised that Candice chose IWHN.Not that it wasn't a great showcase for her abilities-and the acapella was gorgeous- but mainly because its been done before on Idol-(and yes,as impressive as Candice was on it -I can't ever forget Haley's performance).But there's three other songs that Candice did over the course of the show that not only brought the house down but she also really put her own stamp on them.But even with all that there's no doubing of her abilities as a singer.

At any rate-Bravo ladies.

I liked the IWHN choice for Candice. Although I wish they would do a new song, I think it's a mistake to do their signature song (which would be Love Song or You've Changed for Candice. And Somewhere was just last week.) Although I would have really liked to have heard Candice do "I'm Going Down." (My pick for Haley would have been "God Bless the Child" as I really wouldn't have wanted her to do over Bennie, HORTS, or IWHN)

I liked Kree a lot last night too. Although I think Candice sang better throughout the night. (As she does every night) Kree's arrangement and subtlety in "Angel" was beautiful, and I prefer her single to Candice's.

I'm also kind of getting annoyed at the constant "Candice isn't stereotypically beautiful, but we're proud she's so confident." Flag waving the show has been doing. She is stereotypically beautiful. She's just overweight. Had she have been Amber's size, she would have been considered one of the most beautiful contestants the show has ever had. Quit treating her like she's deformed.

My choice for Candice would have been Don't Make Me Over.Candice had been consistently impressive from the begining but if I remember that was the song that made everyone really stand up and take notice.But you can't argue with the response for IWHN.
