RE: One of Haley's unreleased tracks is on Christina Grimmie's new album
I’m proud that Haley is as successful as she is at being a songwriter. Early on I really didn’t focus on this aspect of her skill as much as her singing because of her unique talent to be able to do anything she wants with her voice and in a way that hits me like no other artist. For me Haley’s career is a process that will take time to nurture. As people have said longevity in the music business doesn’t come from overnight success. I’ve heard accomplished artists who I thought were overnight sensations talk about how they started and struggled and their long road to stardom.
Successful songwriting enables artists to plant themselves into the music business for a long time. It also opens up doors to other opportunities that wouldn’t open otherwise. As Haley says, things happen for a reason. Haley is showing how good of a songwriter she is and other artists notice this even if the credit is not publicized. Haley’s songwriting will offer her the resources to continue to make records and allow her to be noticed as the great singer that she is.
I still think her first Grammy may be for “Song of the Year”.

Indeed.
Underlying my earlier comments is a concern that Haliens send a burst of negativity in Grimmies direction. I don't support that at all. Let it go. One element of the criticism can be construed as "Don't you dare sing one of HER songs" and a possible outcome is that an artist would pass on the Haley Reinhart song next time around.
By no means am I suggesting vitriol in any direction, just expressing my disappointment that it's not Haley's fans that are celebrating the song being performed. I've said in my posts in this thread that I recognize the long term benefit to Haley's career.....it's just .... patience is not easy, as a fan base, we've had no choice but be patient. Kudos to the Haliens that are still waving Haley's flag despite non fans telling us why it is that Haley hasn't "made it"
I want to be able to say to the world..."See? THIS is Haley Reinhart now you see what we've known all along!!"
As it is, until then, I'm just going to have to be satisfied with these little victories...
(Don't worry guys, in less than 10 days, a live Haley performance w/ a possible 'new song' will 'happy me up' )

RE: One of Haley's unreleased tracks is on Christina Grimmie's new album
I think we all do Tusk.
But, I just see this news as such a positive step in the right direction.
Not only is Haley getting her songs spread (and prefered by the artists using them), she'll have potential to have a hit off of more than just herself. She'll make money. And she'll earn credibility.
One of the biggest slights to Idol is that you are instantly a celebrity. There's no work involved, and coming from Idol means that people look down on those artists..no matter how talented.
By making connections and earning credibility through writing..(the way a huge portion of today's most talented stars have become stars..) she's earning the credibility, those connections, that..faith in investment from backers. Essentially..she's negating the nose turning of some people. And she's earning her right to be a star.
I just think this is great, because Haley is starting to branch out and become more than just a contestant from a singing competition. (I mean..how many other idol contestants have had their own songs used in another artists album? Maybe Kelly? )

I know what you mean but if Christina has a hit with "get yourself together", I'd still see it as huge achievement for Haley and its something worth bragging about as a Haley fan.
