I've been following this guy. Not sure why I decided to do that relatively recently. He's a concert photographer in LA originally from Chicago. He shot some pics of Haley at Lollapalooza. And recently tweeted to someone that "we" had lined up Haley to perform at Buffalo Grove Days. He'll be shooting that too.

Excuse the indulgence, but I've been watching this vid like 5 times in a row, today, Cannot believe how well these two perform together, it really is insane/surreal/magical



and to listen to this performance with good audio, the texture and nuances in Haley's voice, not as clear in the above video... ridiculous how good this 'spontaneous' performance is in retrospect

^^Indulgence definitely excused! LOL! (Of course, I'm one of those here, constantly awaiting jazz gems from Haley -- and when Casey gets added to the equation, the quality of the initial "gem" [already high] then escalates.)

Unlike you, I don't necessarily find their performances insane or surreal, although sometimes I'm astonished by their maturity as performers, given their ages and how infrequently they've actually performed together. But I do agree with you: they definitely create "musical magic" every single time they perform together!

The insane and surreal part refers to how it is that two who so perfectly compliment each other met, and instantly recognized their synergy, the ridiculous ease with which they interplay. Something that you 'got' or don't 'got'

It's true -- they do connect in an amazing way and I don't mean to diminish that in any way. It's just that the connection you find insane/surreal may actually happen more frequently than you are aware, since you haven't been this close to the "music making" part before.

I've seen a fair share of impromptu musical 'jams'/performances pairings. Sure, I'm engaging in a bit of hyperbole, but I've rarely seen the kind of ease in performances that these two have, musically and interpersonally.

Perhaps its the genre of Jazz that helps facilitate, or rather enhance the interplay, whatever it is, they show a high proficiency with it whenever they perform together.

It'd be interesting to see them perform in another genre ...
