In the interview with Jason Bowers Haley mentioned that she had written a tune with Lauren Christy (who was with her on a panel at the Grammy Museum) that was reggae-ish. Perhaps Run Away is that song.

Shy Carter co-wrote a country song that has reggae elements (e.g. 2:20), here with the smiley dancers:

Neal Avron (born 31 December 1969) is an American musician, record producer, mixer, and audio engineer. Working predominately in rock music, Avron began working on records in 1993 and achieved his production breakthrough when he co-produced Everclear's 1997 album So Much For The Afterglow. Avron went on to produce/mix a string of successful albums from the likes of New Found Glory, Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard, Weezer, and Anberlin.

Avron created headlines in 2010 when he mixed and/or produced each debuting number one album on the Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks; Disturbed's Asylum, Sara Bareilles' Kaleidoscope Heart, and Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns. Avron later received recognition for his production work by receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Sara Bareilles' singe "King of Anything under the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance category.

In this unrelated interview, he draws a distinction between producing and mixing, but I'm not clear what it is.

Job: You’re coming off two straight No. 1 Billboard albums with Sara Bareilles and Distrubed. Has that changed your philosophy in the studio any or has it just given you a confirmation as to your skills as a producer?

NA: First of all, I didn’t produce the Disturbed record, I mixed that record. But I think that it’s always great to get that kind of validation. And I think more importantly for me is to find a way to take whatever artist I’m working with, whether that’s Linkin Park, Sara Bareilles, or Switchfoot, any of those bands, and get to the core of what they’re trying to say both lyrically and sonically, and help them achieve and express that, whether that’s producing or mixing or both. And that just comes from a lot of discussions about how we want to achieve what kind of sonics or what kind of density or production we want to achieve, and then we go after achieving it. Sometimes we nail it on the head right away, sometimes it’s a matter of finding our way through the song and letting our guts decide where to go ultimately. But I think that having a No. 1 doesn’t really change or validate what I’m doing. I think more than that is bands the I’ve been able to work on multiple record with. I mean Fall Out Boy I’ve done three records with, Linkin Park I’ve done a couple records with now; I continue to have bands that want to come back, and that’s the biggest validation for me.

Music mixing:

A mix engineer is the person responsible for incorporating all the different recorded elements of music (vocals, instruments, effects etc.) to make the final version of a song.

A mixer is given tracks to work with. They show up well after the artists or session musicians are done recording, and just have this audio to work with. Their job consists of balancing the relative impact of the each audio stream, by putting them through effects processors, and having the right amount(dry/wet ratio) of each.

Mixing engineers rely on their intuition in the process of mixing, but all mixers generally follow certain fundamental procedures:

Hearing artist's "groove", or "style"
Finding the most important elements(tracks or combinations of tracks) to emphasize
Figuring out how to emphasize the tracks, often meaning de-emphasizing other tracks

Very nice mix on the vocals.

I can't wait to hear Haley in both lead vocals and background at the same time on her new album. We got a little flavor of her background ability from her studio version of "I'm Your Baby Tonight"...starting at the 1:44 mark through 2:55 in the video below. She has so many delicious little runs and groans in that segment. It is one of her most underrated studio performances, but she just slays it.

I'm really looking forward to this as well. I think we'll be blown away. They have invested a lot of time in this new artist's debut album.

I´m really looking foward to this one...Seefried produced and wrote a couple of songs for Fitz & the tantrums that I l really like.

I may be biased but so far each of Haley´s song references sound interesting to say the least.

Not only time, but money. My impression based on all the tweet chatter is that Interscope is willing to open their wallets wide to make Haley's first album a success.
