I'm 93.1416% sure that Casey & Haley's use of the expression "Jam Cakes" originates from someone in this video. It all adds up once you realize 1 & 1 make two, 2 & 1 make 3... It was destinyheee.. <Ahem>

Anyway, I believe the full expression is "Tasty Jam Cake(s)", although it's never actually used in this video nor is this either of the songs Haley & Rob wrote together on that night.

BO BICE ART/PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK & 10 SONG CD

Started on Sept 4, Bo Bice had been trying to raise $35K through Kickstarter for a CD project but has only been able to raise a little over 9K with only 2 hours left to make it happen.

I've heard some suggest that Haley should look into Kickstarter to fund a project. Thing is, I've heard multiple stories of people unable, through CAA, to hire Haley for private events. Usually the cost for doing so is in the upper thousands, maybe Tens of Thoushands, which you can safely assume, only a portion actually goes to Haley.

I have to believe that Haley would be able to raise well beyond what Bo was, I can see $35K not being a problem, though I imagine if Haley were to do something with Kickstarter, it would be a project that would ask for more than that. (through my Halienized glasses)

IMO, I'm not really keen on Haley going this route, it smacks of desperation, which is something I can't imagine as even being a concept in Haley's mind when it comes to her future plans.

Seeing how this has played out for Bo (and I haven't heard of many success stories compared to failures or non starters, involving Kickstarter), I'm not too sure this would be a wise way to help your career in the long run. I have to believe that Haley's options involve things that have a larger potential than what programs like Kickstarter could offer.

I hope we can get some solid progress in what's happening for Haley in the near future

Erika Van Pelt's Debut Album "My Independence"

After I got off tour with American Idols LIVE! in September of 2012, I began work on my debut album. Being one of only 2 top 10 contestants without a label deal, I created my own, EVP Records. Doing this album independently has been an extremely rewarding and creatively inspiring process. The only element that has made things difficult is raising enough money to finish what I started. Your contributions to this project, whether big or small, will help to make my debut

Risks and challenges

There are several things about this project that can pose a potential setback. For example, my album was recorded and produced at 4 different studios, one of which is in Germany. Communicating my ideas can be hard when I cannot be physically present in the studio. I cannot guarantee that the production quality will be exactly what I was hoping. I have already faced some resistance from radio stations who can't or won't play my music because I'm an independent artist. I will need to keep knocking on doors until I find the right people who are willing to bend. Touring is another obstacle. When I toured with American Idol, everything was paid for. In this case, I will have to come up with the money to book transportation and hotels for my band, and most of all get venues excited about my outside-the-box Pop music style. I don't want to compromise the quality of my work. It's important to me that this record be a good representation of me, and that I get it out to the people. I'm not a quitter, so I will do whatever it takes to make this happen. Thank you for believing in me!!!

I don't think that's necessary.

First of all, she's being treated quite well by Ole. Perhaps it's better for Haley to take the writer route, where she does that, gains credibility, and then puts out her own album.

Second, she is writing and recording songs, and I'm pretty sure that's what kickstarter really is being used to pay for (because studio time is expensive.) If Haley really wanted to be independent, I'd suggest bandcamp. I don't know much information about it, other than it's really artist friendly. (It's essentially a "pay what you want" site.) I know Michelle's old band did quite well with it, and they were just essentially a well known band around Ann Arbor.

That all being said, I don't think it's necessary for her to go that route yet. She actually seems like she wants to be part of a label, and so long as she keeps putting her name out there..writing songs and performing, she'll get there.
