It is the heat of the forge that imbues the flexibility and strength to even the weakest metal. It was what Haley had to endure and overcome that brought out the fierceness and determination of "The Slayer", not to mention endearing her to and gaining more fans. (We know reality TV audiences look for more than 'just' talent before they root for someone)

Having to endure sole criticism forced Haley to ask herself how much she really wanted this, is she willing to fight on? Who knows, the early exposure to undue, wrongheaded critiques may have better prepared her for her chosen industry that is fraught with more clueless 'experts'

I agree. Haley's story on idol is my favorite.

I'm just saying as a person, it also turned me off from the show a little bit. And likewise, looking at Haley as a person, where she seems to be a loving, sweet, hardworking individual..it just would have been nice to see her treated the way the Voice contestants are treated.

The tweets are flying about girls performing HOTRS on The Voice. Nothing on YT yet but I did encounter this cover from The Voice of Poland.

I actually would have gone with Bri..but in terms of likeability/ability to win, Christina made the right choice. (I just thought Jacqui was more shrill.)

Both of them are filled with potential, they just need better vocal control.

Christina did tell them to over sing and change the melody a bit. Which probably contributed to it.

And speaking of, during rehearsal Christina sang a line from HORTS that made me stop in my tracks and yearn for a duet between Christina and Haley. Because you could just tell Christina would kill this song. Jacqui was also clearly influenced by Haley's version. When she first started rehearsal, she sang the intro exactly like Haley did.

Jacquie Lee starting to live up to that massive potential.



We haven't had a 16 year old on one of these shows liker her since Allison. I wouldn't call the girls "bots"...I think that's a little cruel and pretty sexist. I think Danielle had Scotty's laid back personality, Jessica was shy, Hollie was nervous, and Lauren had performance ADD. And often they let that shine through their performances instead of infusing it with energy and emotion. (Despite their incredible talent.) Here, you could tell she felt that song, really felt it, even if she might not fully connect with the lyrics.

She can still get a bit shrill (but there's massive improvement.) But I didn't even mind it here, because letting her voice get "ugly" goes with the song. And that note at the end...woah.. (As Melinda and Slezak would say, I'm still throwing my shoes at her..12 hours later.)

Matthew was great. He's a great singer. Great performer. He's got a lot of energy and charisma about him. And he's pretty adorable. I thought Bandzilla got him. (They really need to do something about that. Bandzilla took down Christina last night too. And if you are taking down Christina - and last season Usher - something needs to be done..)

Caroline is really sweet. I know she's quite popular now, but I wonder how long that'll last. (like Didi on AI.)

I also really like Stephanie's voice. I hope Christina picks her as her third. And there's something I like about Jonny, even if he's not that good.

It's funny, The Voice band has 100% (maybe 150% ) won me over this year.

I agree the "you and I arrangement" was bizarre and I can't explain that one unless Cuosco herself suggested changing it up (then changed her mind and sung it straighter at the last minute.. she didn't impress me as a musician much)

I'm pretty sure Both of Xtrina's last two performances were about the guest artist control. The guy at the piano doing the duet was the writer of the song from what I've read. The performance with Flo Rida was identical to the new release they have just put out (it might have not even been live actually.. might have been piped in.. they were that similar)

I guess I just feel like I was so stridently against the band last year i need to praise them in a reciprocal manner (i agree 100% they took usher down .. it was is was so frustrating i was pulling my hair out !) My crticism was bordering on rude last seasons. It wouldnt' be fair to them to stay quiet now that I feel they've more than corrected the things that bothered me.

I'm usually pretty close to what you like merc ... .. so no sense debating it... I just want to give them some love : )

heh, well..I use the term "bandzilla" as Slezak does. But to be perfectly honest, I really believe it's the sound system's fault. Even if the band IS playing too loud, the sound board should enable the microphone to be turned up louder. (In fact, Monday night, I would swear Christina's mic wasn't even on..)

They don't have as bad of sound issues as xfactor, but that, to me, is definitely something that The Voice needs to work on. (And limit the sob stories. And then I'll be really REALLY happy with the show. ) It's just been a trend that I've noticed. Whenever it's a song that requires more sound from the band, it can drown out the singer.

The other good thing about The Voice, is they listen to what people say they have problems with..and actually fix those issues. So I'm hoping enough people complain about the sound that they notice it. (I often wonder if the sound system is set to sound good in the building, and it doesn't sound as good on television. I've heard before sometimes the Idol judges have a hard time hearing the contestant's performance/it sounds different in person than on television. Which is why the take notes from dress rehearsals.)
