It could have been otherwise, which actually makes more sense. There are a number of variations on the words, but I think Dolly's lyrics are interesting.

I was doing a search of Twitter for American Idol in the hopes of finding a reference to whatever private gig Haley might be doing.

What I found was many current references to American Idol. For a minute, I thought people must be watching last season for the first time somewhere overseas.

Then it dawned on me they were mistaking X-Factor for American Idol.

For lack of anything better to do tonight I watched X-Factor. The only one I found interesting was the Women's Pro Football Singer that s-a-n-g Whitney Houston.

Funny, because Sierra sort of reminded me of Haley.

I guess they can be XFactor's poor man's version of Haley and Casey (in couple form.) That still makes them miles better than anyone else..

Maybe, (probably) I'm biased, I've seen these guys twice, maybe 3 times, and to me, it just comes off saccharine and manufactured....

There is a palpable, organic chemistry/energy when Haley and Casey perform together...

It's like you've tasted the sweetest fruit in the orchard (Haley & Casey), then to taste it's equivalence in 'non fat' artificially sweetened fizzy pop... Sweet but not satisfying

Hahah, well I only say she reminds me of Haley because of her mannerisms. And maybe some of the way she stylizes her vocals. (perhaps a jazz undertone?)

But in terms of being the best of what Xfactor has to offer, I do think there's some chemistry there (cute..not sexual as simon suggests.) But mostly, they are a bit original and they stay on pitch. (or in other words, they aren't dreadful.) So that makes them the best xFactor has to offer. (although the older group isn't terrible..)

I do have to disagree about them being manufactured. I mean, I don't doubt by the time Simon is done with them that they could be. But they seem pretty genuine. I do think it's couple chemistry as opposed to musical chemistry. Where they look at each other because they are nervous and like each other, rather because they are incredibly in tune musically. But I think that chemistry is genuine.

edit: I understand what you mean though, by once you've seen Haley your standards change. Funny though, for me..I feel like I've just had my standards be different. I don't expect anyone to reach Haley's level. So I've actually expanded into liking different acts (like Michelle Chamuel), instead of looking for someone to be as good as Haley. Because..it's just not going to happen.

By no means am I looking for someone like Haley, why would I when there is Haley.

I see the parallels in the act, IMO their talent doesn't compensate for the shmaltz, making it feel contrived to me. God forbid Simon get's them to go OTT on the saccharin.

I admit to extreme bias, I wish them luck, being that xfactor is schmaltzy and OTT, to begin with...

Hahahah, obviously no one's voice is like Haley. I just mean..people who I would have thought were incredible singers (Jessica Sanchez, Candice Glover) just didn't impress me as much as they may have before I really listened to Haley's voice. (Not that I don't think they are fantastic..I just didn't fall in love with them after hearing Haley.) Her voice is just so palpable and she has so much control over it that I am genuinely amazed. So instead I've learned to really appreciate different types of singers rather than those who are vocally the top.

Perhaps that's why I've grown fond of The Voice. Different voices exist there that just wouldn't be on idol or xfactor. Well that, and the lack of bullying of the contestants....
