I actually saw the real Haley in Chicago she was standing outside after during a show, and I got to take a picture with her.

Enjoyed the recording of Moanin. Midnight's right -- somehow, she made it better than we've heard before. I'm looking forward to more recordings and recaps! Everyone looked terrific!

Tusk...looking great man! I think you set the standard for what should have been the attire, considering the fabulous outfit Haley was wearing.

I loved the Moanin video, and that ending...one of Haley's finest moments ever. Irving Mayfield really set her up on that version for her to shine. They had to have some serious practice time for the call and response between them. The way he allowed just her voice to fade during the ending with no instruments...priceless!

I would say doubtful and I certainly hope not! The whole point of that is to improvise in the moment -- Mayfield's got to be able to do that, and I think Haley's demonstrated to us frequently that she can. Perhaps they practiced in terms of timing, but I hope the rest of it was "fresh."

Pardon me Miss MAE...I believe we all understand that scatting is improvisational and I really was addressing your specific point of timing. Rehearsing the starting and stopping points of the call and response seemed quite evident in this latest version...very smooth transitions. But I will defer to your musical expertise over my musical amateurishness. And even if they had a couple of practice sessions...It was as fresh as Seattle Rain!

OK - I've got the 20 minute Raw video I shot of Haley's three songs up on Youtube and I haven't gotten a copyright warning yet.

The EvilEye Camera Crusher Usher stuck her hand in my lens at the end of "Dream A Little Dream of Me" but I never stopped recording. Unfortunately because I had to hold the screen to my chest so she wouldn't make me forfeit the Camera most of the "Moanin" video is shooting the curtains above the Stage. She came back again during the instrumental part of that so she could chastize Babbs. For "Come Rain or Come Shine" I had to film below the railing on the front edge of the Loge since I couldn't raise the camera to my eyelevel...

But the audio of the whole thing is quite good and you can get the real feel of how it sounded to the audience...probably better than the website audio. I'll plug in a bunch of improvements for the DVD archive I'll burn later this weekend.

I started whistling "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" here in the office this morning and my employee yelled at me to "Stop That!!" then a few minutes later I caught him also whistling that song uncontrollably so I yelled the same thing back at him. We keep it coming back in our heads and forcing itself out of our mouths until we realize we're doing it again.

I "improved" the Marquee sign photo we had a sidewalk tourist shoot of us:

Thank you so so much PJ Haley, Tusk, Babbs and Himm2 for the recordings, pics and videos and also to Miguel, Haleylvr4evr and Rachbobach09 for the postings. Just when I think the interactions with Haley and her family can’t get any more special, you prove me wrong. Himm2, very nice video and the audio is perfect and loved the close-ups and extra thanks to your perseverance to record the whole segment despite the circumstances.

Haley never ceases to amaze. We finally get to hear Haley sing “Dream a Little Dream of Me”, one of my favorites, after being teased with a snippet in Malaysia and imagining how she sounded at the private party. The wait is over and I love it. Haley’s old soul has no problems getting into the groove of that era. Her “Moanin’” with NOJO is the best version so far. Haley takes it to another level if that is possible, the conviction and power in her voice, the full jazz band and great musicians behind her and the scatting with Irvin Mayfield Jr. is unbelievable. Jeffery Miller on trombone is only 17!! Haley’s ability to mimic an instrument with her voice is incredible. “Come Rain or Come Shine” has been performed by all the greats, the list is very imposing, and Haley does not disappoint one iota. Her skill at transitioning from one tempo to another is very impressive. I need to listen to these songs over and over to really appreciate Haley’s many nuances.

I wish I had been there to completely absorb the full impact of her voice and the band and maybe someday I will.

You know many current artists have waited well into their careers before attempting to record The Great American Songbook probably feeling they weren’t ready until then. Judging by the Carnegie Hall and Chicago Theatre concerts Haley is ready now although career wise she may feel the need to hold off awhile. Just one more Haley treat to look forward to.

Well said ISCAT4HALEY. Yes, thanks to all who posted pics and special thanks to Himm for posting the video. The audio quality is surprisingly good. Haley looked and sounded comfortable and confident. And lovely as always. She really knocked out all of her songs.

It was nice meeting all that went. I had an awesome time and I know already said this on twitter but Tusk I appreciate you introducing me. Except some of the pictures make me look like a dork but I guess that's alright. Better than to look like a dork than no picture at all.
