Did anyone see Carrie last night? I saw the whole movie and she was awesome!! So proud of her and how far she has come

I didn't -- I was wondering if anyone here had watched. I've that reviews of her acting skills have not been of the kindest nature.

But Carrie is proud of herself, as well she should be! It takes a lot of courage to tackle a role as indelibly etched into generations of society as Julie Andrews is for that role.

She's not an actress, she's a singer.

And she showed it last night. And I mean that in a bad way and a good way. Wasn't the best acting, but vocally she was outstanding as always.

I enjoyed it and my limited expectations for a live stage show with a lead actress having very little experience were fulfilled.

As I was watching, I was thinking it would be a great role for Haley in a few years! I can even imagine her voice in the songs!

I watched about 10 minutes of it: kids on the stairs, then singing. The man demanding the kids change into their uniforms, then being moved by their singing. The frightened kids on the bed and Carrie singing.

I thought the singing was okay, and I was impressed they were doing everything live, but it wasn't enough to hold my interest.

The show had great ratings though.

The fact it didn't hold my interest isn't telling.
I've never watched the film or the stage show.

Well-some critics may have slammed her on her acting chops.She may have been a little stiff but I can't fault her singing.And without someone with her drawing power it never would have been put on.How often does anyone get to see an actual live production like that on TV.The Nielsen ratings were strong and I'm sure that a lot of people got a lot of enjoyment out of it.
