I can sort of imagine a Mayfield version of HOTRS. You're right -- it could be very effective.

I'm back to listening to a local jazz station and yesterday had the delightful opportunity to hear the Mayfield/Marsalis (Ellis, not Wynton or Branford) rendition of Stevie Wonder's You and I. Its quite lovely. If you get a chance to hear, I do recommend it.

In fact, I tried finding a YouTube recording of it this afternoon and failed, but did end up watching that momentous recording of God Bless the Child that started the Haley/Mayfield collaborations. It's been a very long time since I've watched that -- and it's still impressive.
