A tid bit from last night...Patti announced to the crowd during Midnight's break that they were selling copies of "The Reinhart Family Christmas" cd from 2004, when Haley was just 14 and Angie was 9. Of course I had to have one, and Penny was so nice to buy it for me. I listened to it today in the car, and besides it being very well done for a family cd, it was just THE CUTEST, MOST PRECIOUS THING to listen to.

THE CUTEST, MOST PRECIOUS THING is the ending of Haley & Angie's BICO...when 9 year old Angie says: "Merry Christmas everybody!"...in the sweetest little voice that was perfect for "Frosty The Snowman"
Tusk...I got two remastered copies from Patti and I'll send you one before Christmas.

I had dinner last night at Firkin with Harry Reinhart. Him & Peter were suppose to start playing at 8 PM but Him & Himm were having a great conversation that lasted until 20 after. I could see he was itching to tell me all the behind the scenes stuff going on with Haley but he knows I have loose lips and they're not ready to let the cat out of the bag. He said Haley & Angie had a blast for the Christmas week of Haley singing on the cruise, then they made it home for New Years. The invitation from Irvin to join NOJO for the party in New Orleans went very well. That seems like it's going to be a long term relationship.
He's going to miss Angie for the semester she spends in Ireland as a foreign exchange thru Harper College. Looks like Angie's Career is headed toward Music Therapy as a professional who helps people recover from strokes and disabilities thru musical interaction. The world should take note on how to be great parents and raise your children right from Haley & Angie's parents!
Midnight will be playing at PS PUB either Feb. 7th or 8th - Harry wasn't sure of the date. (attn: Babbs, Commish & Penny) I hope it's not friday the 7th because the commish & I have a Wheeling Park District Staff Party at Bob Chinns to go to that night. I told Harry I added squares for Him, Patti & Angie in our Haleyfans Super Bowl Game. He said he's rooting for the Seahawks.

I had a wonderful time tonight with Himm and Penny seeing Harry's band, Midnight at PS Pub. God, I love that band! Fav song of the night was Layla, from Eric Clapton. And Patti was having so much fun on stage. She has such a unique voice, in her own way, like Haley does.

I had a brief chat with Patti between sets. She mentioned Haley doing her "My story" speaking (singing) engagement on Saturday. Also said Haley is actively writing songs (which Haley has mentioned recently) and carefully considering options for her future. Nothing specific was mentioned, but I have confidence that Haley will land on her feet. She is a smart cookie, and trying to plan for her future. She is taking her time, making sure where ever she ends up, (management or label), that it is a good fit for her.

^^Babbs, thanks for the update and I'm glad you had such a good time.

I'm thrilled, truly thrilled to hear that Haley is "carefully considering her options." (The old adage "burn me once..." comes to mind.) She didn't have the experience -- and, perhaps, not the opportunity, the first time around to do that. But now she does, and can proceed more fully educated and armed with knowledge. Good for her! To paraphrase a recent, trendy phrase ("Go Hawks") in Seattle: Go Haley!

I didn't get any new volunteered info on Haley's future last night but had a great time...at least when Babbs was still there and before there was an idiotic high pitched whistleing duet for most of the 3rd set between a drunk man and skinny girl that danced like crap in front of us. Midnight had many guest guitarists, a vocalist & drummer perform with them which was unusual. Here's a little Beatles 50th anniversary tribute that they harmonized beautifully on. One of a few Beatles songs including Lady Madonna & the song we were all suppose to serenade Haley with at our shindig (With a Little Help From My Friends). This was "If I Fell":


And Kent Bredrup proved that he is also a good singer as well as a great drummer:

Nope...I was a designated driver for myself with 3 diet cokes...Babbs was was a determined driver with 3 glasses of wine & me guilty of being a supplier of the 2nd one.

^^Thanks, Himm for the recording and Harry, Patti and Midnight for a lovely rendition of my very favorite early Beatles song. I always loved the harmony line in that song (lo those many years ago), and was always surprised that it wasn't more successful. It was -- and remains -- such a beautiful song. (Harmony wasn't a foreign concept at that point.??) (And, personally, I'm happy that in my [ahem] maturity, I can now sing that harmony in the appropriate octave without too much discomfort.)

Patti gets the connection of music and dance -- and has passed that on to her daughters. I, too, get that connection and have always been puzzled/surprised why many musicians can't seem to move. But there is something to the saying "musicians never get to dance."
