I'm reluctant to dive into this topic, but there are times when someone in Haley's position needs to engage with the fans. Twitter was buzzing with anticipation all weekend, dropping hints, asking for some attention (etc). What people got was (1) some vines on Saturday of Haley playing around with her buds, and eventually (2) a tweet with HOLY CONNOLI and a handful of emoticons, and a tweet that she was writing lyrics.

People wanted to share the excitement they were feeling and what they got was a couple little announcements after the fact. I don't think that satisfies a group of fans that contributed their money to the project and often promoted it in other ways. She missed the party. Not a big deal, but an opportunity lost and the kind of thing that can contribute to an erosion of support over time. Kind of like a situation where a bunch of people campaigned and gave money to a politician who wins despite his limited participation in the campaign process. And after winning he only gives a brief announcement proclaiming the win.

When $27,000 was reached Haley gave an update on FB and the rate of contributions picked up. But given that this is HER project, aside from the pre-established perks, she hasn't been all that engaged in the process of generating funds. She needs to nourish her supporters more consistently.

I hope that she gets someone on her new team who helps her use social media effectively.

John I do understand your frustrations and is is a fine line but I did expect more gratitude also. Tuck worked his ass off to promote Haley,so did others, but maybe in time.More social media is the new wave. Nourishment from Haley is in order, I still choose to support her .

Oh, I still support her. I see it as more of an opportunity lost than some major faux pas. I'm no social media whiz by any means but if I had a project that was dependent on people giving me money, albeit sometimes for a perk, I'd be promoting it and nursing it along. And watching it closely. This weekend lot of people who collectively, and individually in many cases, gave her a pile of cash were let down, I think.

A 15 minute twitter party, a splashy thank you on her website, and some love to her supporters on FB could have turned it into a feel good promotional feast. You know, the whole carpe diem thing.

What it boils down to is a need for a good team to help her with this, as Tusk has mentioned. In this past year she has focused a lot on writing, apparently with an eye toward diverse income sources in her career, and so she has been away from the spotlight much of the time. This choice may turn out to be a very smart one, particularly if she has written a hit or two. She seems to have built a stash of quality songs over time. The one song that I can identify with some confidence among Steve's favorites from his recent visit with Patti was written in 2012.

Haley performs about once a quarter and while she drops new songs along the way she hasn't had anything specific to promote. But it seems that is all going to be changing in the "near" future. This video is a first concrete step in bringing forward new recorded music to the public. It needs to be done well and she needs to handle it well. And she needs help with the latter part.

I'd like to comment, but I know there are those who don't post here, who would love to take what I have to say out of context to promote their own self importance, as they have done before, so, I'll just say, This could have gone much better....
